Seeing folks excited about the #He-Man movie, and I do remember how excited I was for She-Ra (both as a kid renting it repeatedly from Blockbuster and as an adult fangirling on the queer reboot) but I can't see #MastersOfTheUniverse ads w/o remembering Roger died in April w/ $0 support from Mattel.
Screenshot of tweet on X by @tufpraise: "Amazon MGM Studios, which is valued at almost $10 billion, is releasing a movie about He-Man this year, which will easily make millions of dollars. Meanwhile, the literal creator of the character, who without him that movie wouldn't even exist, has to rely on a GoFundMe for his medical care. F****** insane." The post quote retweets from @TheCartoonBase in February with images showing the iconic He-Man character and the creator, a dapper elderly man smiling with a hat and stepped shirt, proudly holding up a He-Man book. The original post says "'He-Man' Creator Roger sweet is suffering from dementia and he's unable to afford the necessary care. His wife has started a GoFundMe."

DID YOU KNOW? 🚨 Dystopian media often tells us that #disabled people’s lives matter less, and calls this pragmatism. “For the good of the many” often requires that disabled characters die and/or be left behind. That's one reason why we're #CrippingDystopia in the disability in dystopia anthology!
A graphic with a green textured background and black brushstroke shapes containing white and green text. The text explains that dystopian media often portrays disabled people’s lives as less valuable, framing it as “pragmatism,” and notes that such stories frequently require disabled characters to die or be left behind. An orange spray paint style exclamaition mark and five-pointed star appear around the text. Dark green text along the very bottom announces “The Disability in Dystopia Anthology – Coming July 2026.”
