Yes hosting one thing on one server is not insanely but that's not what they are doing. They are hosting an insane amount of things, investing in server capacity for unknow demand, paying employees to develop and maintain, marketing and management costs and then paying banks for the financing costs

You also left off maintenance in your total cost of ownership calculation. Lastly insurance prices are higher because of the fewer EV being made their replacement costs are higher. If your assumptions materialized the opposite effect would kick in (higher insurance for diesel and lower for ev)

You have two contractory assumptions in your defense of diesel. How can EV growth both increase yet rate of depreciation also increase relative to diesel. That implies fewer people want diesel yet their after market value increases despite lower demand.

You're missing the point that distribution costs money and either consumers or developers need to pay that. We could just simply national steam and it would we would still have the same issues that youre talking about

It was refreshing to hear @wesmckinney.com frustrating with AI, decision fatigue, verbose communication, inventing solutions to problems that don't really exist, etc "now that everyone can code its clear why some people shouldn't" he makes the case we are needed now more than ever and I agree!

the challenge I feel when managing my AI 'team' is that I'm not a coder anymore, I feel like a project manager or architect and sometimes that's good / fun but often I find I don't have the same intellectual satisfaction or intimate understanding of the code that gives me the feeling of ownership

And that is where I feel conflicted -- I don't want to be manager sometimes. Managing people is hard. It can often take more work delegating a task then it is to do it yourself. But if you want to scale / accelerate then having a deep is critical.

On the flip side, it has 10X my productivity and helped me solve edge cases that I would be stuck on for weeks Where I have matured my understanding is that AI is essentially a team that I can hire to work for me. Competent and capable but ultimately not inexperienced or fully developed
