The Trump admin keeps claiming that they're mostly arresting and deporting "criminals," yet they haven't publicly released evidence to back up their claims. Outside of promoting a "few dozen" arrests on social media, they've yet to disclose any info on the other 7,400 people.

@theguardian.com has campaigned intensely for trans people to be persecuted, so it’s reporting of Trump’s anti-trans oppression is conspicuous by it’s absence. It’s not guilty conscience, transphobic journalists don’t have those, it just doesn’t want to be seen as on the same side as Trump.

On day one Trump's EO said we were harmful to kids. On day two, it said we were dishonorable and disloyal. On day three, it said we were unAmerican. Transgender people have been a part of this country for centuries. We are not going anywhere. Do not comply with these EOs, they are not law.

Everyone should be aware of the line that has been crossed in the Trump trans military EO. No longer is this about "evidence," "science" or "protecting kids." Now, explicitly, black and white, it's about trans people being "liars," "dishonorable," "false." It's a big step towards very bad things.

Southport Inquiry should consider updating the law on sentencing, suggests children’s commissioner
The Daily Telegraph28 Jan 2025By Genevieve Holl-allen and Poppy Wood
THE SOUTHPORT inquiry should consider changing the law so that teenage murderers like Axel Rudakubana can be given whole life sentences, the children’s commissioner has said.

Rudakubana was sentenced to a minimum of 52 years in prison for murdering three young girls at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class last summer in an outrage that sparked riots across the country. The judge expressed frustration he could not hand the killer a whole-life order because he was nine days short of his 18th birthday when he carried out the attacks.

here's the full (and now-deleted) reddit post supposedly written by an OPM employee:
I'm a current employee at the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). This is a throwaway account for obvious reasons. I’m posting this because people need to know what’s going on at OPM.

I’ve been an OPM employee for nearly a decade and a Federal Employee for almost 20 years. I’ve never witnessed anything even remotely close to what’s happening right now. In short, there's a hostile takeover of the federal civil service.

Let me say this in no uncertain terms — OPM has been compromised and taken over. The very backbone of American Government, the HR of all HR in the U.S. Government has been taken over by outside politicals. In just five days, they managed to push aside dozens of non-political, career civil servants who were there specifically to prevent the civil service from becoming the President's henchmen.

The current Acting Director, Charles (Chuck) Ezell is a low-level branch chief. He's the friendliest “yes man” you'll ever meet. He never says no. It’s clear they pushed aside all the high-level non political civil servants who refused to do Donald Trump's bidding, until they found Chuck.

Under his name, they’ve sent numerous requests to all the agencies to collect information on gov't employees that they see as a threat to their agenda. Instructions say to send these lists to Amanda Scales. But Amanda is not actually an OPM employee, she works for Elon Musk. She wasn’t even properly cleared by OPM Personnel Security.

Our CIO, Melvin Brown, (also a non political career public servant) was pushed aside just one week into his tenure because he refused to setup email lists to send out direct communications to all career civil servants. Such communications are normally left up to each agency.

Instead, an on-prem (on-site) email server was setup. Someone literally walked into our building and plugged in an email server to our network to make it appear that emails were coming from OPM. It's been the one sending those various “test” message you've all seen.

The Commission on human medicine has released their report on the puberty blocker ban. And we have spotted this (Link to report: www.gov.uk/government/p...)
CHM heard that NHS England does not plan to provide NHS access to GnRH agonists for puberty suppression until the results of the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) puberty suppressing hormone study are available (estimated 2031). As currently planned, the study will require, from a safety perspective, an ability to continue GnRH agonists for puberty suppression as children and young people exit the trial (as children and young people may not have reached 16 years of age and therefore be eligible for gender affirming hormones). Any gap in planning should be addressed rapidly as it is likely to reduce children’s and young people’s confidence in the study and may cause delays to final approvals from an ethical perspective and therefore in study start up

A DRAG queen who criticised JK Rowling over her views on trans people was invited to celebrate Burns Night at No 10.

Sir Keir Starmer was pictured alongside Lawrence Chaney, a former winner of Rupaul’s Drag Race UK, in an event Downing Street said was intended to “honour the life and legacy” of Scotland’s national bard.

The move provoked a backlash over controversial remarks previously made by Chaney, who was heavily made up and in Scottish dress for the event, including accusing the Harry Potter author of stoking up “hate” towards transgender people.

The women and equalities committee (WEC), which has a Labour majority of seven MPs, has been lambasted for holding a ‘biased and partial’ hearing into the safety and effectiveness of the controversial drugs.

Data (Use and Access) Bill [HL]
Volume 842: debated on Tuesday 21 January 2025

The Passport Office has allowed people to replace their sex with self-identified gender on passports since the 1960s and, until recently, kept no central records of this. I declare an interest in that my late wife altered her date of birth on her passport in the days when you could do such things, but sex is rather more serious. Doing that officially—to have a passport that shows your sex as something that it is not and to then use that as the basis for a digital verification system—starts to corrupt the whole system. The system is becoming unreliable; it is really important that what gets in there is correct. If you are dealing with use of facilities in clubs and relying on the digital verification system to apply quite reasonably, say, a rule that you have to be female to use the female changing rooms, which are communal, then you need to have a system that is accurate. That means we must take care, as we go into this AI world, to make sure that the data sources we feed in are accurate.
