‘Clip-Cycle’ approaches to functionalised pyrrolidines, pyrrolizidines and indolizidines
The ‘Clip-Cycle’ approach is a versatile and modular synthetic method for the synthesis of aza-heterocycles via sequential cross metathesis and aza-Michael reactions. In this manuscript, a series of…

So pleased to share this work on alkaloid biosynthesis. Great collaboration with @unsworthchem.bsky.social. Well done to all authors. We have found key alkaloid producing enzymes that look like those normally found in bacteria. www.york.ac.uk/news-and-eve...

New paper out today on alkaloid (bio)synthesis with @unsworthchem.bsky.social . Dr Lachlan Waddell made ten bioactive securinine alkaloids using "biomimetic" total synthesis - a strategy that we think is analogous to the plant makes the alkaloids by biosynthesis. pubs.rsc.org/en/content/a...

Clearing out my office and came across this much reused folder. You can just make out a scribbled date, 29 Jan 87, for a tutorial with Bruce Gilbert. So it's at least 38 yrs old. Channeling my inner womble, I think I'll keep it a little longer. @professor-dave.bsky.social @unsworthchem.bsky.social
An old, blue cardboard folder, with scribblings, crossings out, and a label on it. Masking tape is holding the seams together. A date of 29 Jan 1987 can just be made out.
