I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

AI won’t replace art, it will replace clipart. It won’t replace music, it will replace muzak. Cheap, ubiquitous, low quality… McDonalds exists but it didn’t replace proper chefs, from Michelin star pros to normies who Cook Pretty Good at home.

Greg Tate's FLYBOY IN THE BUTTERMILK was (is) like sneaking into a party. AND it had (still has) the highest percentage of "Wait, WHAT? Holy shit, he's RIGHT!" ideas I've ever encountered from any music critic. My biggest inspiration; as Dizzy Gillespie said about Louis Armstrong, "No him, no me."

this is such bunk. I read negative reviews every day. I write so many negative reviews I feel self-conscious about it lol a labor or economic lens would be so much richer: 'how do music critics pay their bills?' ; 'where did all the music mags go?' www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...

absolutely. And i think people in the 2040s-50s who write about artists from now will have a much tougher time. far fewer interviews, & a lot of the chronicling of performances, etc. is on ephemeral media (YT, Tiktok etc) that won't survive
