It's a tie between Zelda LttP and FF6. I can see a clear line between those two and basically every game I've loved since. And even where there's no obvious connection they're still the ones that kindled the flame

I grew up in a very rural place and hated country for a long time, so first i had to get over that. Traveled through alt-country to outlaw country and then finally was able to accept that even mainstream country has some amazing artists. Anyway, she was a true and actual legend.

Can't go wrong with that. Level your vigor and and strength and start breaking enemy stances for fun and profit. Try to keep it so you can medium roll to dodge and especially in ER: if it seems way too hard, go somewhere else and find some cool stuff then come back

Today is the 81st anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. For @thebulletin.org, I wrote a short piece on the curious story of the "Hiroshima Maidens," and what it tells us about the complicated politics of memory. thebulletin.org/2026/08/the-...

The political implications of Hiroshima’s scarred “maidens”

In May 1955, 25 young Japanese women, all of whom had been schoolchildren who survived the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, were flown to the United States. They became known in the press as the “Hiroshim...

First heard this on KEXP driving in to work one grey seattle morning while i was going through some shit and it was the perfect thing to hear at that exact moment. One of a handful of songs i remember exactly where i was when i first heard them

When i was little i had an "Unknown Mysteries" type book and the tiny little drawing of the flatwoods monster was so scary to me that i papercliped the pages it was on together so i wouldn't accidentally see it

I think i probably like Parkinson, Elmore, and Caldwell equally, but i bet i could convince myself any of the three was my favorite by seeing a particularly awesome picture

Thank you. It's fuckin bizarre that that particular thing is still so widely believed

I think it got drowned out by the extremely poofy hair that was also around (or maybe came shortly after?). It's good tho, and should make a return

1) there's a typo in that amazing note: Mokoto instead of Motoko 2) my (presumably) newer Kodansha edition also has it 3) weird!

I kind of expected your new thing to be pretty good, but honestly the episodes so far have blown me away. I find myself making lists of who i'd like to have you talk to

Some of them would actually have a little sad animation they do when you deleted them! That should make a comeback, i need Ranni pouting at me while i delete Elden Ring to make space

Yeah, i'm actually trying to remember if i forgot, or never knew he did designs for the movie. Also i had to check my shelves to see if Expedition and Inferno are actually still there and in one piece (they are)
