AltNOAA also has a big ol' hard-on for AI, including using it to post straight up fake news, justified by it supposedly generating "emotions" about beluga whales. When challenged on how insane that stance is, AltNOAA spent the day doubling down and calling everyone "emotionally shallow."
AltNOAA: Beluga Whale Escapes Research Facility and Swims Hundreds of Miles Back To Her Baby.

It is wrong and immortal to hold brings of self awareness captive if they have committed no crimes.

[AltNOAA attaches a hilariously obvious AI image of a beluga whale leaping out of an aquarium tank into the sea]AltNOAA: Two types of people will see this. The first type is the emotionally shallow person who just sees AI and that's it for them. Everyone else will think about the emotions it creates for a self aware being they personally don't know and understand that cetacean captivity is wrong. I love it for this!

It's weird that people google something, then post a screenshot of the AI overview in the replies to a post as if they've contributed, right?

Not just them: Hamilton is one of 8* pastors, former pastors and seminarians running for Congress as Dems this year — 6 in tight races or likely to win. Hamilton and Haynes are both megapastors. Garriott and James are ordained clergy. (Talarico hasn't finished his MDiv, nor is he ordained.)
Candidate	District/State	Religious ID	Party
James Talarico (seminarian)	Texas	PC(USA)	Dem
Rev. Sarah Trone Garriott	IA-3	ELCA	Dem
Rev. Lindsay James	IA-2	PC(USA)	Dem
Rev. Freddie Haynes III	TX-30	PNBC	Dem
Pastor Robb Ryerse	AR-3	Progressive evangelical (Source: us)	Dem
Rev. Adam Hamilton	Kansas	UMC	Dem
Rev. Emanuel Cleaver	MO-5	UMC	Dem
(Former Rev.) Anna Golladay	TN-3	UMC	Dem

Called insurance company to complain again about the outrageous copay for the generic they made us switch to in January. Spent 40 minutes getting the run around. $700 every 8 weeks is untenable, especially when the brand name was free. If the dose was twice as often, the copay would be $250x2!

Lab-acquired infections happen. Only a small percent ever become public information, in part because they never need to. The plague thing is interesting and unfortunate, and also the pandemic risk of wild type Yersinia pestis in 2026 is indistinguishable from zero. www.thelancet.com/journals/lan...

Something AI is responsible for that doesn't get enough talk: How, when it scrapes a website to illegally steal everything on it, it uses up a ton of its bandwidth allotment, crashing it or racking up massive fees for site owners.

Oh: I really can’t emphasize enough how useful it is to check — literally right now, do it. Likely, it’s peace of mind in a couple of minutes. At worst, you still have time (barely) to remedy it.

There are nearly 70 million Americans on Medicare. Less than ⅓ of them will receive this $90 "refund".
Q: Who will receive the Medicare Improvement Fund Premium Rebate?

A: The 20.8 million Americans in Original Medicare Part B who are: (1) Living in the United States, are (2) not receiving premium assistance from Medicaid; or, (3) not paying an Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount. Beneficiaries enrolled in Medicare Advantage are not eligible.

She won an exemption from using AI at her tech job. The Pope's remarks could fuel similar appeals.
Legal experts say employers must take AI-related religious objections seriously, as a 2023 ruling raised the bar for denying such accommodations.

Virtual Voice is Amazon's AI voice narration product, which is why it's the only AI narration allowed on Audible. If other AI narration is used, the book cannot be sold on Audible, which is the biggest storefront. I assume most of the AI narrated books are also AI written, on Audible or otherwise.
