I’ve kept this piece of paper for nearly 9 years. As a scientist entering politics in 2015/6… it was utterly (and grimly) fascinating to me that those who voted Brexit trusted *no-one*. There was no category of society that Leave voters, on average, had faith in and would readily defer to.
YouGov polling from 2016 on who Remainers and Leavers trusted or didn’t.

Remember all these headlines describing a brief rise in government borrowing costs as being "market mayhem", followed by a week of demands for Rachel Reeves to quit? Well one week later and it turns out UK gilts are now outperforming every other G7 country this year, aside from the US

Charles Spencer detailed his abuse at his prep school Maidwell Hall in his recent book and that led to a police inquiry which has now caused the school - which was long operating at a loss - to close. The Conservative press, naturally, blame it all on Starmer. And VAT.

A lot of rich parents are very upset at the government for charging VAT on private school fees. Maybe they should instead ask why private schools have put up fees so far above inflation over the past 15 years. www.ft.com/content/852b...
