Many Labs 5 was such a cool project. Authors who argued that a study from the Reproducibility Project: Psychology was 'too different', leading to a null result, could propose their own replication. Mostly null results again. Blaming auxiliaries is easy. Replication is hard.

The need for positive data is the original sin of science. To exist in science, you need grants. To get grants, you need to publish papers. To publish papers, you need positive data. This leads to null data staying in file drawers, and false or misleading positive data being published.

Grading and googling hallucinated citations, as one does nowadays, and now that LLMs have been around for a while, I've discovered new horrors: hallucinated journals are now appearing in Google Scholar with dozens of citations bc so many people are citing these fake things

746 proposals for a total of 3M (about 13 will be funded). If orgs spent 4000 in personnel time preparing their proposals on average, then this mechanism actually reduced funding for open science. Open science is extremely underfunded.

Here is something I suspect happens *a lot*: Researchers have nested data. Run rmANOVA. Don't get significant results. "Hey, how about multilevel models?" Run MLM with only random intercept. Everything is significant. "I guess MLMs have more power!" Publish. #stats
