Brain-state-controlled #TMS promises more robust neuromodulation but it hasn’t reached clinical protocols like #iTBS yet. Here, we personalized iTBS by syncing delivery to each person’s #EEG theta rhythm - method + rationale inside, clinical results to follow: www.brainstimjrnl.com/article/S193...

Personalized, EEG-controlled intermittent theta burst stimulation
Brain state-controlled and closed-loop approaches to transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) have emerged as a promising frontier in precision psychiatry [1]. Multiple groups have demonstrated that th...

Are you interested in meta-modeling of #BrainStimulation? Now, we’re sharing head models and code in Scientific Data: www.nature.com/articles/s41... E.g., that's how we meta-analyzed tACS studies on memory recently (www.pnas.org/doi/abs/10.1...). Together with @miles2708.bsky.social and Opitz Lab.

Happy New Year! (my cartoon for @newscientist.bsky.social)
Two scientists share an office.
The first, whose half of the room is neat and tidy, says
“My new year's resolutions are to jog to work every day, choose the healthy option at lunch, and run a pleasant, well-ordered workspace.”

The second, working in a total mess, replies
“In the interests of scientific rigour, I'll be the control, and change absolutely nothing.”

Excited to share that I will start as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Northwestern University this fall! My lab will focus on closed-loop brain stimulation and neuroimaging. I look forward to doing cool science together with brilliant colleagues at Northwestern.
