UD2 @ud2.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I have heard this exact sentiment from an actual FM-7 user semi-jokingly (?) so perhaps you're not too far off from the truth... 110

UD2 @ud2.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Seeing those stupid-ass slop posters is such a bummer, banning them would make for a much better event. It takes all of 15 minutes to shit something out in a slide editor and it’ll still look a million times better. 110

UD2 @ud2.bsky.social · 08/09/2026It’ll require a physical release so the true believers can glue a copy inside their console, as is tradition for Death Crimson. 040

UD2 @ud2.bsky.social · 30/08/2026Oh, right, totally blanked on the VDP being the odd one out there. 000
UD2 @ud2.bsky.social · 30/08/2026This would require increasing the VDP package pin count, which is a rather expensive change. I suspect that’s the real reason the TMS* chips (and derivatives) don’t map VRAM this way. 100

UD2 @ud2.bsky.social · 26/08/2026If you haven’t yet booted any of the music disks, give them a shot! The FMP ones are my favorite, but there’s plenty of others (like RST and Imagical Musion Depot). 110
UD2 @ud2.bsky.social · 26/08/2026I'd rank the last variant (name omitted for spoilers) even higher, that sweeping intro by Ryu Takami is one of my favorite moments in the soundtrack and he deserves more credit than he gets! 010

UD2 @ud2.bsky.social · 17/08/2026It has “豆! 豆! 豆!” as a game title, and if that’s not the best possible parody arcade game title possible, I don’t know what is. 110
UD2 @ud2.bsky.social · 17/08/2026I need to get to it at some point. I really enjoyed Yu-No but actively disliked Desire. Maybe this one will be somewhere in the middle, given the order he wrote these in… 110
UD2 @ud2.bsky.social · 13/08/2026It is a _crime_ we only got one Hülsbeck Genesis soundtrack, Mega Turrican sounds so good. Similarly, Tim Follin's only Genesis soundtrack is incredible and the game didn't even come out. It's not fair! 010
UD2 @ud2.bsky.social · 13/08/2026Some of the best Western FM sound designers seemed to end up doing pinball instead of video games, Black Knight 2000 kicks ass. 100
UD2 @ud2.bsky.social · 13/08/2026The gap between Zero Tolerance's technical competence and soundtrack quality has to be one of the widest on the console. 100
UD2 @ud2.bsky.social · 12/08/2026Also, make sure you get one with a keyboard. The Deskthority assholes found out that most of the later KBs (except the last “type G” model) use Alps Blue switches and raided them for parts. They are now annoyingly expensive when purchased separately, to the point that I ended up buying a second 88. 110
UD2 @ud2.bsky.social · 12/08/2026There is technically an even faster 8MHz mode (8MHzH) on FE2/MC but MC is a royal pain in the ass and FE2 seems a little uncommon so IMO neither are worth it. Basically the only thing it’s good for is running Final Crisis a bit faster. The CD drive doesn’t have enough titles to be worthwhile either. 010
UD2 @ud2.bsky.social · 12/08/2026Anything with integrated Soundboard 2 and 8MHz mode is a good choice. The extra RAM offered by some models is extremely rarely used, and I’m not aware of any software that needs HD drives. If you want a safe pick, 8801MA/MA2 are great. Just watch for battery damage. 220
