I typically post these weekly(ish) updates on Fridays, but I've decided to jump the gun this week in honor of this day, the anniversary of Joe Genaro's birth. Happy Birthday, Joe! Here is an unpublished (as far as I know) photo of him wielding a circular saw in the Eighties, when that type of behavior was safe and encouraged.

WE GOT A NEW DATE / WE GOT A NEW DATE / WE GOT A NEW, VINYL NIGHT DA-AAATE! No better way to celebrate a crisp hump-day in the mid-point of spooky season than at Standing Stones, with a glass of your preferred beverage, snacks, and of course all of your favorite un-cool three-chord classics on the turntables. I'll be starting around 7pm and going until everyone's gone (or Lil boots everyone). ALL AGES and NO COVER.

A week ago, thanks to WRUV-FM News Director DJ Chameleon (aka Cam), I had the distinct privilege of appearing on the air after spending more than two years as a devoted listener. Cam sent their air check over, which I've edited down to post here. Apologies that I talked so excruciatingly much; my only excuses are my innate wordiness, anxiety that I'll forget something (ironically, I forgot many important people and things), and my brain's status as unfiltered mush at the end of a busy week.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Happy Friday! As I've mentioned before, one of my favorite experiences of writing and publishing The Dead Milkmen has been connecting with the greater community of Dead Milkmen fans worldwide. I wasn't "there" in 1994 when the band broke up, and I was never in too deep on any message boards. There were a few larger-scale attempts to create open-access online archives (or anarchives) of Milkmen material, including one circa 2004-2008 by the band themselves.

On Sunday, my friend Collin Hagood and I split duties on the turntables at 14th Star Brewing in St. Albans. Our friend Bobby, known for his brewery-guy prowess as much as a drummer, lined up this annual event and invited us to soundtrack the occasion. This was my first time doing a collaborative vinyl night in eons, and it reminded me why it's always a great idea.
