I hate AI for countless reasons, and this stupid RAM shortage is near the top of that list

I have a backlog of games on Steam that I've bought on sale in anticipation of moving away from Xbox. So I just need to keep waiting... and waiting

Last week I thought about buying a Steam Deck. The very morning I decided to buy it, it sold out. Then yesterday I thought to look again, and apparently the Deck came back in stock but sold out yet again just an hour before I checked.

Here’s a short poem about the power of poetry to change the world.
The Power of Poetry

with things falling apart
and anarchy let loose,

it was only poetry, he found,
which had any use,

so he reached for his copy
of The Complete Works of Yeats

and bludgeoned the President
of the United States

muppet 'bond' movie: entirely original spy plot, kermit as like 'plames blond' and it's a running gag that he has to keep repeating it. miss piggy as second lead/love interest (a barely fictionalized version of herself), gonzo as q. entirely muppet cast except for the villain, played by daniel craig

It's especially bad when the video is HDR but the interface isn't so all the buttons look gray and hard to read
000
tyler @tylernt.bsky.social · 03/11/2025
but for real, I hate HDR so much. I don't care if it's "more realistic" or not. I don't want to be flash-banged by some random video as I'm doom scrolling Every HDR video just takes me out of any immersion and ruins the video for me. Give me a way to opt-out across the board

Coming across an HDR video be like
Three panel image of a guy blinking. First panel: normal brightness. Second panel: too bright. Third panel: so bright all detail is lost.

"Definitely." I think I also pronounce it wrong. I just opt for "certainly" when needed

Everything now depends on how the republicans will respond If they seek 'justice', then justice will be served and general order may be maintained If they seek 'retribution'... then I fear that our democracy may be lost sooner than expected

The other mass shooting events that happen every week are against politically "unimportant" people (as hard as that is to say) This time is different because it was a killing of a right-wing political figure, a member of the ruling party A ruling party that is unpredictable and volatile

tyler @tylernt.bsky.social · 10/09/2025
The Minnesota assassinations were against the democrats, the non-ruling party The attempt against Trump was unsuccessful and arguably helped him win the election

This is literally a turning point for the US (pun kinda-intended). Not necessarily because Kirk is a highly important person, but because of what he represents

I don't claim to have the answers. But I do know a problem when I see one. Capitalism is the central problem with most everything we are seeing today.
010
tyler @tylernt.bsky.social · 10/09/2025
I know it may sound like some Marxist propaganda. I am not saying we have to have some revolution to fix things. But I also don't see how capitalism leads to anything but isolation and suffering
110
tyler @tylernt.bsky.social · 10/09/2025
I'm also not advocating for moving back to some "age of the past." I recognize that capitalism is the leading cause of the spread of democracy and the liberation of the working class from absolute tyranny But we are now living under the tyranny of the dollar and need further progress
100
tyler @tylernt.bsky.social · 10/09/2025
Because of capitalism we are losing community places. Capitalism is replacing community with social media. Capitalism is commodifying everything we do. Capitalism dictates that you can't do anything without the expectation of spending money. Capitalism chokes us dry and blames us when we feel alone
100
tyler @tylernt.bsky.social · 10/09/2025
Where are we supposed to build a community if these community spaces are being closed? You can make friends at your local dive, but are you going to make friends at your local Buffalo Wild Wings?
100
tyler @tylernt.bsky.social · 10/09/2025
Capitalism drives small establishments out and replaces them with brand-friendly corporate-controlled businesses There are still many third-places like gay bars, but many are struggling and some even closing permanently
100
tyler @tylernt.bsky.social · 10/09/2025
There wasn't online dating back in the 1960s. The gay community had to be built around third places where people could meet each other and form friendships and relationships But capitalism has been the death of so many third places. So many people don't have any "place" to go for community
100
tyler @tylernt.bsky.social · 10/09/2025
"First place" is home "Second place" is work "Third place" is where we build our community Every generation previous has had third places such as religious centers, town halls, union halls, etc. The gay community was built around third places like gay bars
100
tyler @tylernt.bsky.social · 10/09/2025
Keep in mind I'm not some sociologist, I'm just simply paraphrasing random things I've read before But capitalism is the cause of the loneliness epidemic that everyone is feeling, not just the gay community It's all tied back to the death of "third places"
100
tyler @tylernt.bsky.social · 10/09/2025
I just have to write my thoughts out here instead of venting to some random comment thread. So bear with me please I saw someone say on reddit today try to argue that feeling lonely while gay cannot be the fault of capitalism But it is though...

...thinking about it, I'm sure this is not unique to just customer service these same people have jobs (somehow) and I'm sure they act the same there too
010
tyler @tylernt.bsky.social · 04/09/2025
Working in customer service you learn quickly that some people have never been told no in their entire life They'd rather you break the law and risk everything to bend the rules for them just so they can get what they want

i've been finding some accounts are using AI to cause division on this platform if you see any reply being overly and excessively argumentative, check their posting history and report them here are just two examples i found
A screen shot of a Bluesky post and a reply.

The post reads: "I like how Little Shop of Horrors stops for a second and goes "yeah l've got a real fuckin beef with Dentists!!" and then goes back to the plant stuff"

The reply reads: "I'm glad the musical's writer used art to address societal issues, but dentists are not the problem. Access to healthcare and education are. Let's focus on real systemic issues, not scapegoating individuals."A screenshot of a Bluesky post and a reply.

The post reads: "Неу! This is for you. YES YOU! You can also send it to somebody you wanna send it to and say it's for them.
BECAUSE IT IS!"

The post then provides a link that says "Oliver - Good Morning Starshine. Youtube video by Music to Please."

The video thumbnail is a cartoon of the sun rising over a farm.

The reply reads: "I'm happy to help! However, I noticed that the tweet doesn't contain any political content. As a result, I won't be composing a response to it. If you'd like to share a different tweet, I'd be happy to help."

and it's not the pickup trucks themselves that are the issue, it's the people driving the pickup trucks they feel like they own the road and that they can get away with it just because their truck is twice the size of a normal car
