The literacy crisis is not just referring to people's ability to literally read and write. It's also people's inability to read for context. I've been a public educator for over 20 years and I have never, ever seen it this bad.

It's frustrating to me to see Kickstarter projects with unrealistic goals & timelines manage to get a lot of money for their JRPG because they're salesmen who promise the world & have a handful of pretty pictures & GIFs. And then they inevitably fail to deliver and poison the well for everyone else.

Consumers should be a lot more skeptical of the games you see being pitched. If it's super vague and aspirational, and they only have like 4 carefully curated gifs of the game, you can safely assume little to nothing of the game is done.

Finished Quartet and it was absolutely wonderful. Loved everything about it. Combat is basic but with enough mechanics to be engaging, story is well done, characters are interesting and have nice stories and all that in under 30h playtime. Absolute peak RPG!

There's something to be said for indie games these days. I'm drawn more to games that are crafted by smaller studios, that can actually be enjoyed in 15-30 hours. I do enjoy the big titles too, but I rarely finish them. And often the hidden gems seem to have more soul. #Quartet is a good example.
