This nonsense drives me nuts , the EU will never , NEVER allow - even an ex-member - to join without accepting the four freedoms If this is not acceptable to UK then stop wasting everyone’s time and, rather than full membership, investigate joining the EEA or some sort of Norwegian arrangement

On the birthday of Margaret Thatcher, let us take a moment to remember what a cruel, heartless piece of shit she was.

The Leeds trams went before I was born, but I remember when I was about 4 - so 1969 - travelling on a trolley bus on a visit to Bradford. This network was dismantled in 1972 to be replaced by diesel buses. If only they had known that the Middle East crisis a year later would double diesel prices…

It seems that Nigel Farage has taken the hint and has decided to spend more time in his constituency of Clacton. So much so that he has bought a new house for himself and his family in the local area:

Well if you pull out of the ECHR, ICC and be Geneva Conventions you can do what you want Depressing thing is although this will receive huge condemnation on this echo chamber it would be a very popular policy with Reform supporters, hell it might attract back Restore voters

Exactly That’s why media should not be asking the Brexiteers if Russian interference swung the vote (no solid evidence for that ) but rather if Brexit was going to be fantastic on so ms y levels why Russia backed Leave and not Remain?!

There was huge cognitive dissonance from the right in this countryover Trump just before his second term began. They knew he was mad, bad and dangerous to know but as he was their anti-woke champion who was going to stick it to the libtards they convinced themselves all would be well

What empirical evidence have this pressure group to back up that assertion? Especially given that a 2% swing would have given a different result But what BBC should be asking the Tufton St lot is why if Brexit was going to be so fantastic for GB the Russians were working to secure it?!

Those who support capital punishment need to be honest: it’s about revenge/retribution It’s never been a deterrent as very few murders are coolly planned with chance of being caught / executed weighed up before. Nearly all are in the moment under influence of drugs drink anger or mental illness

Public executions were not abolished out of tenderness towards the criminal. They were abolished because of the effect on the people watching, and the dangers of making human death a source of commercial entertainment. Here's Charles Dickens in The Times, after witnessing an execution in 1849.
"I have seen, habitually, some of the worst sources of general contamination and corruption in this country, and I think there are not many phases of London life that could surprise me. I am solemnly convinced that nothing that ingenuity could devise to be done in this city, in the same compass of time, could work such ruin as one public execution, and I stand astounded and appalled by the wickedness it exhibits. I do not believe that any community can prosper where such a scene of horror and demoralization as was enacted this morning outside Horsemonger Lane Gaol is presented at the very doors of good citizens, and is passed by, unknown or forgotten. And when in our prayers and thanksgivings for the season we are humbly expressing before God our desire to remove the moral evils of the land, I would ask your readers to consider whether it is not a time to think of this one, and to root it out.

I am, Sir, your faithful Servant.
Charles Dickens".

Bozo , as a Brexiteers who subsequently won an election on a single issue : Brexit , is going to say this , but Starmer? Was he so obsessed about danger to Labour of any reference to Brexit that he kept mum? Makes no sense

Self determination of residents was 100% UK rationale for retaking them after the Argentinian invasion. Still is . Historical territorial claims are very tenuous Stupid things is if Argentina had not invaded and kept on negotiating they would have secured some sort of joint sovereignty deal

I am sure this story will be headline news in the right wing press tomorrow Key is how close the Brexit vote was. If Leave had won the vote c60-40% we could be fairly certain Russian bots, trolls and a bit of money to Leave had probably not swung it , but a couple of % swing in such a tight vote…

Did Russia seek to boost the ‘Remain’ vote as they were terrified if Britain exited we would be economically stronger and more influential in the world, would create huge new trading partnerships inimical to Russia’s interests etc? No, they boosted ‘leave’ as they knew what a crock Brexit would be

I think when you retire must be the hardest thing when you have had a sparkling 20 years in the game , but sadly agree it is a year too late . He’s gone from the fastest wing in the competition, to the fattest … And Leeds picked him in first half of this season when there was little justification

She is obsessed with an early election . Rather like Brown in 2007 that ship has sailed and Burnham knows that his honeymoon period is coming to an end . There are some very choppy political & economic waters starting to appear making a winnable election for Labour impossible until addressed: 2029
