Ty Golding @tygolding.bsky.social · 05/01/2025Despite the ‘adorable’ artwork, this mug is in no way suitable for coffee. It is overly oversized, too chunky and should only be used for tea. 010
Ty Golding @tygolding.bsky.social · 05/01/2025As we approach the return to school, this is an authentic opportunity for leaders to reflect upon the context of agency in the schools and refocus upon ‘the change’ we want to realise. 030
Ty Golding @tygolding.bsky.social · 05/01/2025Think we may need to share the good, the bad and the ugly of the coffee cup world. 110
Ty Golding @tygolding.bsky.social · 04/01/2025Educators: I hope you have had the opportunity to refill your reservoirs… of energy, enthusiasm and hope. Even if you aren’t looking forward to returning, know that there are learners & colleagues who will be excited about being with you again. #nearlygotime 050

Ty Golding @tygolding.bsky.social · 07/09/2024Please can I leave those with you for starters? 🫣 there are more… 😂 100
Ty Golding @tygolding.bsky.social · 07/09/2024Q5 - What you present in the A4 proposal (which I like), is curriculum understanding and application over coverage? How far could we go in removing the barriers presented by a coverage focussed, assessment driven curriculum? 100
Ty Golding @tygolding.bsky.social · 07/09/2024Q4 - I use realisation and not implementation, as a deliberate attempt to emphasis the agency that exists with school leaders and their teams. Could the concepts of realisation Vs implementation be the crux of the challenges with any national curricula? 100
Ty Golding @tygolding.bsky.social · 07/09/2024Q3 - You pose the above (a&b Q2) as a paradox - Do you think we are comfortable enough in the uncomfortable, in school leadership… particularly when it comes to realising curriculum policy in practice? 100
Ty Golding @tygolding.bsky.social · 07/09/2024Q2 - In your experience, is it curriculum design or pedagogy that schools use as a priority tool for a) impressing Ofsted and b) securing better outcomes for learners. 100
Ty Golding @tygolding.bsky.social · 07/09/2024The essence of the above is… Is it ‘geography per se’ that we need or is it geographical knowledge, skills and experiences? 100
Ty Golding @tygolding.bsky.social · 07/09/2024No particular order sorry - Do we need to distinguish geography as a stand alone subject, right through the primary curriculum? For geography, read any of the humanities subjects. 110
Ty Golding @tygolding.bsky.social · 07/09/20242/2 as context: previously worked in curriculum design & development and currently pulling together doctoral research on role of leaders in realising curriculum policy, in practice. 010
Ty Golding @tygolding.bsky.social · 07/09/2024Interesting read Christopher. There is a lot here that is pragmatic and purposeful. Would you mind me throwing you a few questions / provocations, all of which are a genuine attempt at discussion and challenge, and in no way pointlessly antagonistic? 1/2 210
Ty Golding @tygolding.bsky.social · 06/09/2024You’ve planted a brain worm now 🪱😝- what’s the validity and value of ‘truth to power’ based upon the subjective or normative context of ‘the truth’ and ‘the power’? Stopping now… 😁 120
Ty Golding @tygolding.bsky.social · 06/09/2024Ah, forgot to mention there was also a really great phone conversation with an inspirational lady too. 😁❤️ 120
Ty Golding @tygolding.bsky.social · 06/09/2024It makes sense to look at the vertical dynamic in an org. As is a norm when thinking about power. However, I’m wondering about the role of horizontal (peer) dynamics? What is the relationship between horizontal & vertical truth & power? 000
Ty Golding @tygolding.bsky.social · 06/09/2024Great Q. Simplistic literal answer - yes. Agree with Cat’s response & your follow up… but also thinking that the question presents a ‘dilemma of definition’. Would we benefit from a shared definition of both truth and power? 010
Ty Golding @tygolding.bsky.social · 06/09/2024Maybe not a typical first week to the year for most. Two days of PLD - developing & refining across our curriculum & assessment approaches. Then right into three days of adventurous activities, on a residential with Y6 in the Brecon Beacons. Busy, exciting, purposeful. Brain & Body officially aching 120
Ty Golding @tygolding.bsky.social · 06/09/2024ENRICHED… two days of PLD with #teamholton and then straight into three days away on residential with amazing Y6 learners and a great team. Full of hope and excitement for the year ahead. 020

Ty Golding @tygolding.bsky.social · 04/09/2024Such a great way to kickstart Y6 for our learners. First morning back, straight onto the bus & off to the Brecon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog) for team-building, personal challenges & a chance to consider the year ahead. 270
Ty Golding @tygolding.bsky.social · 03/09/2024So far, so good. Day 2 of our PLD - Assessment & Progression. Really enjoyed the discussion on the functions of feedback & refinement, across the curriculum. Good provocation from Austin’s Butterfly. Today was about 4Ps - progression, portraits, profiles and portfolios. #teamholton holtonps.co.uk 230

Ty Golding @tygolding.bsky.social · 02/09/2024A great first of 2 Professional Learning & Development days - reviewing our mission&vision, renewing our team charter, setting priorities for our culture of learning & thinking about v3.0 of our Flourish Curriculum. For me, today was about ownership, direction & hope #teamholton - How was your day? 280

Reposted by Ty Golding NetworkEd PLD @networkedpld.bsky.social · 01/09/2024It is important to acknowledge the risks and challenges that lay in change… but it is more important to recognise that growth and progress come from change. 011
Ty Golding @tygolding.bsky.social · 01/09/2024Nothing changes if nothing changes… I find the way that organisational change is led, negotiated, avoided and ultimately realised to be completely fascinating. In particular, change that moves from chaos to clarity. 021
Ty Golding @tygolding.bsky.social · 01/09/2024Good luck to everyone returning to school tomorrow… remember to be deliberate in your dialogue, choose slowness over haste, lead with questions over providing answers, and take time to observe that which is right in front of you 😊 #bepresent 2432
Ty Golding @tygolding.bsky.social · 01/09/2024A very apt point Rob. Could your point be broadened to be said of other ‘middle tier’ roles and responsibilities too? It is clear to see where we have been guilty of bypassing experience, credibility and even capability as a response to either necessity or as a benefit of networks. 020
Reposted by Ty Golding Simon Knight @simonknight100.bsky.social · 01/09/2024Utterly and brilliantly compelling. We also need to be highlighting the possibility and value of Joint Headships like mine. I’d have never applied for the job on my own for various reasons, but Joint Headship made this most challenging of roles both attractive and achievable. 0249
Ty Golding @tygolding.bsky.social · 31/08/2024I love these moments, had one last week in the gym. Such a boost. The inverse is also just as magic 💫- this is me a few months back with my former Y6 teacher / primary headteacher. We both coach rival district rugby teams and evidently he’s wanted to stop me talking so much, for a long time 🤭😂 000
Reposted by Ty Golding Geoff Barton @realgeoffbarton.bsky.social · 30/08/2024One of the most life-affirming - but not much talked about - aspects of being a teacher is hearing from your former pupils. Tonight, on the field near our house, I bumped into Josh, a student of mine in 2003. He didn’t like school much. But, gosh, we had the greatest, happiest reunion tonight. 5564
Ty Golding @tygolding.bsky.social · 31/08/2024IME, slowness in the classroom, along with the ability to take a step back from ‘coverage’ based thinking, is always a difficult one for practitioners. A culture of PL, trust & agency help to mitigate the pitfalls of ‘fast forward’ classrooms and then the responsibility sits with individuals. 010
