Imposter syndrome puts the problem in your head. Doesn't ask a single question about the room. I've started calling it imposed doubt instead because some of us aren't doubting ourselves out of nowhere. We're doubting ourselves because we've been given every reason to.

There are rules to every workplace that nobody teaches you. And when you're already dealing with assumptions about who you are, figuring them out can be exhausting. It's a lesson I was taught by my father early on and that I keep seeing playing out after years of work across different sectors.

I'm deeply saddened and horrified at the passing of Professor Jason Arday. Hearing him speak last year at Professor Paul Miller's conference was powerful. The world of academia, along with wider systems that maintain and protect racial hierarchies, need to carry out some honest reflection.

A huge thank you to Martine Booker Southard and Stuart McDonald for joining us for Episode 4 of If They Only Knew podcast. 🙏🏾 Anti-racism is a safeguarding issue. It's something every school, every leader, every teacher has a responsibility to. Link to the episode: youtube.com/watch?v=0lPO...

I know we shouldn't respond to the trolling, but Vance implying that Sikhs are part of a "mass invasion of migrants", when they fought in tens of thousands for the British in two world wars and even THE INDIAN MUTINY is 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢

And that’s a wrap on our final Action Research Day with the latest cohort! So grateful for the depth of thinking and commitment throughout the antiracism journey and excited to see how these insights continue to shape teaching and learning in schools going forward.

In 2020, when exams were cancelled, teachers were asked to assess and grade their own students. And both teachers and students came forward to talk about what that really meant and the bias that shaped those decisions. Episode 2 of If They Only Knew: youtu.be/bQ8TAuHc2PQ?...

It’s important to see funding going into tackling antisemitism, but it raises a bigger question. Why does it often take harm or a moment like this for anti-racism to be prioritised? This work shouldn’t be reactive. It should already be part of the curriculum consistently, across all forms of racism.

The skewed perspectives in my A-level curriculum are staggering. Until that changes, harmful ideas about race and migration will live on, says Emerging Voices winner Astrid Barltrop

After a powerful day of reflection, learning and development with college staff about how to talk about racism and the need to build understanding of each other, an attempted arson attack on a synagogue is reported.

Last month's action research sessions ended with one question: what's your next step? No one said "write a report." They said: listen to teachers. Involve pupils. Keep going. This is the work.

I'm ending women’s history month by celebrating Betty Campbell: the first Black headteacher in Wales. Her work went beyond representation; transforming the curriculum and assumptions embedded in. A reminder that equity needs intentional disruption. #WomensHistoryMonth #BlackWomenInEducation

Even though International Women’s Day has passed, we’re still in Women’s History Month and this message still stands. “Give to Gain” isn’t about women giving more of themselves. It’s about what systems are willing to give. #GiveToGain #WomensHistoryMonth #ApexEducate

There’s a history in Britain of collapsing ethnicity, culture and race into one narrow idea of who belongs. But Britain has always been shaped by movement, migration and exchange. Maybe the question isn’t who belongs in public spaces but whether our understanding of belonging is wide enough.

Anti-racism work in classrooms really starts with the little things. In one of my action research groups, someone shared how they realized that even touching a child’s hair—meant as a compliment—could send the wrong message. It’s small realizations like this that lead to real change. #Edusky

Leading anti-racism courses in schools, I keep hearing how eye-opening it is, even for educators in multicultural settings. Someone shared, 'I didn’t realize touching a child’s hair, even as a compliment, could be harmful. Now, I’m more mindful.' Small actions matter. #AntiRacism
