Someone asked me about my feelings about the midterms and the polling and I basically said that not only am I not counting my chickens before they hatch, I'm not counting the eggs that will hatch into the chickens that lay the eggs we're not supposed to be counting the chickens for.

Several years ago I wrote about a couple rapes at KU that were by the same alleged perpetrator. The school set these girls up to be in situations where women would be seen as subservient. I also learned that most schools vastly underreport on their Clery.

Interesting subplots happening right now in the (mostly on pause) fight between the Texas GOP far right v. moderate flanks: Charlie Geren, a well-respected GOP House member, is sharing anti-Paxton stuff; and State Sen. Paul Bettencourt is touting a meeting with Karl Rove, a major Paxton critic.

Texas school districts who adopted the Texas Education Agency's Bluebonnet Learning curriculum saw on average better year-over-year achievement than non-Bluebonnet districts, TEA announced Wednesday.
The percentage of students who met grade level in Bluebonnet curriculum grades for the
2026 STAAR test compared to the 2025 STAAR test rose in both reading and math, TEA said.
Bluebonnet districts rose 0.6 percentage points in K-5 math and secondary math, and by 0.2 percentage points in K-5 reading language arts.
