I wore this shirt to the State Courts for my court mention for one count of "taking part in a public assembly within a prohibited area". Security wouldn't let me into the building wearing it. I ultimately took it off by the entrance and turned it inside out before I was allowed in.

Black text on white page that reads:

In 1882, 10,000 workers marched up Broadway in the first-ever Labor Day parade. Led by democratic socialists and organized by New York’s unions, they rallied the movement that went on to win us weekends, safety standards, overtime pay, a minimum wage, and social security.

None of those victories were guaranteed. And none are permanent.

We created the first-in-the-nation Office of Worker Power to put the full weight of City Hall behind the people who keep New York running. On Labor Day, we honor the workers who came before us by fighting for the workers who come next.

Happy Labor Day, New York. The future of worker power is ours to build. Learn more at nyc.gov/workerpower.

From us & #MilkTeaAlliance Thailand. In Solidarity with our friends in Hong Kong, on the "conviction" of Chow Hang-tung & Lee Cheuk-yan. We have learned so much from our Hong Kong friends & allies, we know & share the pain of seeing friends imprisoned for speaking out. #FreeOurFriends
For decades, the Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements of China1 has said the same words,
has carried out the same activities, organising vigils in Causeway Bay’s Victoria Park to commemorate the 1989
Tiananmen crackdown in Beijing. Their message and calls were clear:
Release the dissidents (釋放民運人士), Rehabilitate the 1989 pro-democracy movement (平反八九民運), Demand
accountability of the June 4 massacre (追究屠城責任), End one-party dictatorship (結束一黨專政), Build a democratic
China (建設民主中國)
Their message never changed, and for decades, even after the Handover. Indeed, from 1997 till 2019, what they did was
not considered “illegal” by the authorities in Hong Kong. At the annual vigils, they remind us of the story of the Tiananmen
Massacre, their activities were not curtailed, nor was their message.
Yet today these things cannot be uttered in Hong Kong. Today’s verdict has shown that clearly: things that were once a
ubiquitous and integral part of Hong Kong’s fabric are now deemed “illegal”, “seditious” and “criminal” in the city. This
saddens us, it angers us, and for many of us it is a pain we share and know from our own countries and experiences.
The conviction of Chow Hang-tung and Lee Cheuk-yan in Hong Kong is yet another example (amongst many) of the
suppression and criminalisation of speech and expression that now overshadows our friends in Hong Kong. This, too,
casts a long shadow across territories controlled by the People's Republic of China and points to its transnational
repression of diaspora and allies across the globe. It is with both sadness and anger that we watch our friends and allies
targeted, jailed, the attempts to intimidate and silence them, bounties being placed on their heads, abductions, renditions
and more besides.

19 Student associations from Chulalongkorn, Kasetart & Thammasat Universities issue objection to the welcome by the Thai government of the leader of the Junta in Myanmar Min Aung Hlaing. #WhatsHappeningInMyanmar Thai version & source in QT.
Joint Statement of Student Associations and Student Organizations of 3 Universities Regarding
Thai Government's Official Reception of
Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Leader of Myanmar's Military Coup
7 August
2026

In light of the official visit to Thailand by Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, leader of Myanmar's
military coup, scheduled for 6-7 August 2026, the undersigned student associations and organizations from
3 Universities, representing a total of 19 associations and organizations, hereby express our opposition to the
decision of the Thai Government and the Prime Minister to officially welcome Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, the
former Commander-in-Chief of the Myanmar Armed Forces, who overthrew Myanmar's democratically elected
government in the 2021 military coup.
As students, we believe that Senior General Min Aung Hlaing bears primary responsibility for the
violent conflict that has persisted in Myanmar since 2021. This conflict has deprived countless Myanmar students
of their educational opportunities. Officially receiving such an individual, therefore, risks contributing to the
continued destruction of the future of Myanmar's youth.
Furthermore, the military regime led by this individual has maintained its power through violence
over the past several years, resulting in numerous domestic crises. These include widespread violations of
fundamental human rights and threats to public safety, forcing many Myanmar citizens to flee their country. Serious
concerns have also been raised regarding the recent election process in Myanmar. Beyond its domestic
consequences, the military coup has generated significant cross-border challenges, including the refugee crisis,
instability in border communities, disruptions to cross-border trade, regional security concerns, and transboundary
environmental issues, such as toxic contamination in the Kok River, which has also affected Thailand.
For these reasons, the Thai government's decision to officially receive this individual or strengthen
diplomatic relations with a regime whose legitimacy remains widely contested by the international community
cannot contribute to lasting stability between the two countries or provide meaningful solutions to these
challenges. On the contrary, such actions risk conferring legitimacy upon a regime that has become a source of
both domestic and international crises.
If the Thai government is genuinely committed to addressing the regional challenges shared by
both the peoples of Thailand and Myanmar, and sincerely seeks to promote the shared development of the two
countries, Thailand-as Myanmar's neighbor and a member of ASEAN--should pursue policies that prioritize peacein Myanmar based on respect for human rights, the protection of civilians, and the meaningful participation of all
stakeholders in Myanmar, rather than policies that may indirectly support individuals accused of war crimes.
A foreign policy that prioritizes short-term economic or political interests while disregarding human
rights, the rule of law, and the will of the people of Myanmar is not a path toward sustainable peace or long-term
development.
Therefore, the undersigned student associations and organizations of 3 Universities call upon the
Royal Thai Government and the Prime Minister to refrain from taking any action that would support or legitimize
the regime of Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Instead, Thailand should utilize international platforms to advocate
for an end to violence against civilians, promote inclusive dialogue among all parties, and work toward achieving
lasting peace in Myanmar--for the benefit of both the Thai and Myanmar peoples.

My genuinely brilliant colleague in Southeast Asian studies, Dr. Erik Davis at Macalester College in St Paul, faces a federal indictment and a possible six-year prison sentence, for having "ties" to "antifa" (i.e. for organizing anti-ICE protests). www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-i...

Erik Davis is accused by the government of a ‘conspiracy’ to obstruct ICE – experts say it’s part of a pattern to criminalize lawful organizing and ruin activists’ lives

So so fucked up. We know that these people will be detained, potentially jailed for a long time (with all that entails in Myanmar), conscripted straight into the military, even if neither of those things happen... Myanmar isn't exactly safe. /sigh

I am as always grateful to Tyrell for these translations of Get's letters from prison & the care put in, not just to the translation but the surrounding background & commentary. This letter on the origins, inbalances & flaws in Thailand’s "Democracy" is well worth a read. #FreeOurFriends

Get Sophon, a Thai political prisoner, asks, "When we try to speak out to demand fairness, they do not merely refuse to listen to us. They attempt to suppress and lock us up in the name of security. For whom is such security? At present, for whom do the government and state agencies work?"

This morning in Biddeford, Maine, a 26-year-old man said goodbye to his wife and daughter and left for work. Moments later he was dead, shot in the head by ICE agents, the second man ICE has killed in six days. ICE is killing our neighbors. ICE cannot be reformed. Abolish ICE.

Lorenzo Salgado Araujo called Houston home for 35 years. On Tuesday, an ICE agent shot and killed him. His family learned of his death from a video before anyone bothered to knock on their door.
New York City stands with the Salgado family in demanding a full, independent investigation and real accountability. To the Salgado family and any immigrant family in this city living in fear: we grieve with you and we will continue to stand beside you in the pursuit of justice.
Abolish ICE.

"The Child rights crisis in Burma", new report from AAPP, outlines the many ways in which Children have been attacked, detained, lost access to education & healthcare, been displaced & indeed used as hostages by the Junta. #WhatsHappeningInMyanmar Full report: aappb.org/wp-content/u...
The Child Rights Crisis in Burma AAPP
July 1, 2026 Situation Overview

Every child has the right to life, education and a safe & nurturing environment in which to grow and develop. However, across Burma, such rights for children are being threatened on a daily basis
470+ Attacks on schools
1083 Child deaths
639 Arbitrary arrest of children
1.2 million Children deprived of access to

Killing & Maiming of Children
Children continue to be killed and injured as a result of airstrikes, artillery shelling & indiscriminate attacks. They are not only suffering as incidental victims of armed conflict but are also direct targets of such attacks

Attacks on Schools and the Education Sector
Attacks on schools and educational facilities have severely disrupted children's right to education. Additionally, the junta's occupation of schools and educational entities as military purposes threatens
children's access to safe learning environments and undermines their protection

Arbitrary Detention & the Use of Children as Hostages
Children have been subjected to arbitrary arrest & detention. In some cases, they have been used as hostages to put pressure on their parents or other family members. Such practices constitute serious
violations of a children's right to liberty, security & protection

Violations of the Rights of Children & Mothers in Detention
Children & mothers held within detention facilities often lack adequate access to healthcare, nutrition, education and developmental support services. These conditions seriously undermine the best interests of
the child and violate their fundamental rights

Forced Displacement & Psychosocial Impacts
Ongoing conflict & insecurity have forced many children to flee their homes, leaving them without access to education, healthcare & essential services. In addition, exposure to violence & displacement has caused many children to experience fear, anxiety & psychological distress with lasting impacts on their well-being

Black text on a white page that reads:

Today marks 11 years since Obergefell v. Hodges affirmed a simple, profound truth: everyone has the right to marry the person they love.

It's a day to celebrate the generations of LGBTQ+ people and organizers who fought to make that promise a reality. When so many protections are being challenged, we should remember what it looks like when the Supreme Court expands freedoms instead of revoking them.

Love is always worth defending. Happy Pride.
