It's Don't Argue Inside Your Head With Other People Friday. Today, if you find yourself arguing inside your head with someone who's not present, or who it isn't safe or fair for you to argue with, gently move your mind away. Do this as many times as you need.

More people need to get comfortable with the idea of not making it to 50. You can't bank your life and save it til the end. 55 is not guaranteed. A chance to redeem yourself in your child's eyes is certainly not guaranteed.

NPR still doesn't even have a story posted about Bernadette Greene-Placentia, and every headline (other than original Phoenix story) is " she says/reports/alleges" when she was literally bruised and bleeding. By God we need a MeToo that burns the way this press treats victims to the ground...

Men, talk to the men in your life. Make them stare at the reality of what men in this country have become and make them be better, or make them get out of your life. No more tolerating their stupid jokes. No more tolerating their creepy behaviour. Mentor them and make them better.

Then to come back to the office and learn that on top of this heinous Cornell case that a democratic congressional candidate was raped as an act of political terrorism in Arizona... the whiplash is too strong. It is time for a reckoning. It is time to end the political party of rape for good.

It was truly incredible watching Venus Williams and Dr. Myra Henry CEO of our local YWCA (and my boss) talking about the power of sisterhood and to be so excited to be on this team building the world that I want to raise my daughter in.

Our local (Rochester, ny) 311 allows you to report illegally parked cars, and if you do it on the web platform, you can upload pictures. I've seen tickets in the afternoon from cars that I reported in the morning. It doesn't happen every time, but it's certainly worth a shot.

A lot of kids raised in these environments don't have words for "when I most needed your undivided attention and approval I was left constantly seeking and never finding it. You never established a healthy attachment with me. You trivialized my feelings." So all we can say is "you were too strict"

I learned that a lot of people challenging and banning books don't actually read them, so libraries have implemented book reports on the book challenges to prove that people have read them. Cite the page number, etc. #BannedBooksWeek

This one & name games... fascists love their nick names "Talafreako" "Newscum" etc. Leave names & personal appearance out of it & there's plenty of room to call a spade a spade.

The rage is on me... Time to practice the tools that have actually helped: #1 go for a walk #2 "what's good about this?" #3 "what is this really about?" #4 serenity prayer about that (and the rest of it) #5 "how deep is my love?" #6 breathe.

So here’s my thing: I think it’s important to see other people as human, and to have them see you as human. For the most part I’m not gonna do anything toward that by having a debate. I’m gonna do that by just being an example of a decent person.

“Opening” “Car-free” This is the correct framing. Take note all other cities. Public space is for the whole public. These 160 streets will be temporarily “opened”. There are thousands of NYC streets that are closed 364 days of the year, not “free from” but burdened by the mess of avid motorists.

Reading "Life After Cars" and was blown away by this fact. A light rail station being added to a rural area in Japan reduced health care costs in that community to the tune of $600 per person per year!! 🤯

This is why I'm so in favor of accessory commercial units. Just getting people in the US used to **walking** for a cup of coffee or a sandwich in the neighborhood may finally do something to rid Americans of our terminal car brain.

Or when the only people that elders see are other elders and their caretakers. They should be seated in places of honor surrounded by young people to hear their wisdom and kids to give them joy... Sorry for the rant but this struck a strong nerve for me. Thanks for speaking up all the ways you do.

I cannot IMAGINE the spiritual harm these segregated churches do as young people pair off and "graduate" from their stupid little singles mingles group and aging single people wonder if there even is a role for them in the larger church, or in life.

A family also has grandparents and single people and married people and aunts and uncles and teens and students and working people and people with limited mobility and developmental disabilities and every other kind of people.
