Be it golden hour or sunset, Hong Kong still is really beautiful to me. 🥲
Golden hour sunlight striking onto building surfaces, causing some parts of them to shine even while others are darkly silhouetted. The sky in the background has bits of pale blue, cloudy white-gray and also pale yellow-orange. A couple of vertical lines of cable are also visible.

2 incidents of ICE detaining Hong Kongers with Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) status have been reported. The detained had valid work authorizations that allow them to travel domestically within the US. They are expected to be detained for over a month before being released.

LRT or is it last repost now? 火腿湯通粉 was the most exciting thing because it was not rice. Because it's something you eat not at home. Then there's the shame of enjoying soggy pasta after some cooking show on TVB Pearl talked about al dente like it's some absolute law that shall never be broken.

Seven years ago today, I got tear gassed while walking home after a protest march had ended. Of all the times I got tear gassed in 2019-20, this was actually the most direct hit I sustained and it was a pretty awful experience; one which caused me to be temporarily blinded, among other things.

Seven years in jail for organizing a vigil and using a slogan. A vigil and a slogan which were legal in Hong Kong for thirty years. Really, Lee and Chow are being punished now for those thirty years of freedom and Beijing's frustration with the yearly vigil.

A thing that’s often hard for anyone outside of HK (and Taiwan?) to wrap their head around is that no opposition would be caught dead calling themselves “the left”, even if the policies pursued are “leftist” in any other place. The reason should be obvious if you think about it for even 2 seconds
