This is just semantics - how you choose to define words. Probably only Alfred the Great & his folk of Wessex were “English”. All the north-east was Danish - the Danelaw. Certainly the Celtic bits were never “English”. We could redefine it as “Born & raised in England” if you like.

The demographics of the boomer years versus the low fertility rate nowadays means there must be more older, sicker folk & less taxpayers to support them. This makes tax rises inevitable. The obvious solution is immigration of enough young active workers, & to stop fussing about their skin tone.

The solution to NEETS is to guarantee all YP a paid useful job, created if necessary, with a strong component of training. UC only if medically unfit for any work. Use for Care work, forestry, solar installation, insulation etc. Costly, but consider the alternatives. Eg massive savings in crime.

“Jobs for all NEETS” is a cruel fantasy. The total of vacancies is below the no of NEETS, & most demand skills or experience. In deprivation areas there can be 26 applicants for every job. So how can we blame YP for not being employed yet? & deny them funds to exist while they search & hope?
