A LARGE majority of my citations are from that paper. A lot of them are for the methodology applied to other areas, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were some doing something similar.

Don't remember the timing, but it was basically a mix of E.T./The Little Mermaid/The Wizard of Oz. Why yes, I am a giant weenie. It should not surprise anyone to know I HATE scary movies.

Omg, yes. I've been on two, and they both will just start replaying the same five songs!!! And then I get afraid to skip anything lest it start doing that AND never play the song I skipped ever again 🤦🏻‍♀️

How the hell am I (and all the other scholars at my uni) supposed to do peer reviews for scholarly journals that have policies forbidding this? (Which is most of them). "Oh, but we're in a closed system!" Sure sure sure sure.

But IT also says that they wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft starts this forced embedding even with the free version. Wtaf.

IT says there's no way for me to toggle it off. I have zero options - other than to just get rid of the license - to not have it run. Fine, I don't want it. Get rid of it for me.

I got a copilot premium license from MPOW. Quickly realized that not only did it auto embed copilot in every single Office desktop app, but that it will run in these apps without me telling it to - so, it will automatically generate a summary of a Word doc as soon as I open it.

Oh, I bet they understand just fine, they just don't care enough to try. Why do that when you can put the burden on the authors and then get lucky because some of them won't dig and look. But value added!

I'd also love to point out that quite a few El journals advertise peer review turn around rates of 2 weeks or less. But please tell me how they're not predatory while other journals doing this are....

One vendor wanted to do something like a 10% increase because they made some super basic handouts for students that we didn't want.

Woah. That is incredibly extreme. My library is working on locking the library after 5 pm but my understanding is even then non uni people can get in, they just have to sign in.

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful
An aircraft passenger oxygen mask: a drop down passenger mask with air bag and yellow plastic mouth and nose cover, oxygen tube has been cut; Demonstration model used by flight attendant crew for passenger instruction. Has text on the side indicating that it's non-functional.

OH MY GOD EVERYBODY I just learned about reciprocard.com , which lets you enter your public library and find out all the places you can get a card on Libby. I had not known my Minuteman card actually gave me *every network in the state*, including the flawlessly-named CLAMS?!?!

it’s long past time lawmakers addressed how companies have taken the switch to digital to redefine purchases as licensing rather than ownership. it’s most egregious when it comes to libraries, but it’s harmful to everyone.

What a stupid, ridiculous, disingenuous hill to stake too. Because it makes total sense to support someone who's tearing apart the very fabrics of society JUST because you think people need to vote in person dag nabbit.
