"Every Democratic senator except Pennsylvania’s John Fetterman" is functionally equivalent to "Every Democratic senator" at this time. Fetterman's a Republican with a D after his name, is all.

Imagine if instead of regulating drone risks the normal way (which we did), we instead paid weird bloggers lots of money to worry about superintelligent dogs sprouting thumbs and using drones to kill us. This is pretty much how the US is approaching AI risks and regulations. My latest:

Since WWE's trying to exploit PAC's death, it's time to talk about this: Remember how PAC suddenly had visa issues when AEW started? That's because, when the AEW trademarks were filed, WWE called USCIS to claim he walked out on his visa. After leaving him alone for a year and giving him his release.

Sometimes Google fucks up outside their "AI" search. This is the normal summary thing on the right of my search for "The Tell." It conflates Amy Griffin's 2025 planted and hyperproblematic bestseller, a separate book about a Canadian murder in 1997, and a date (1953) with no connection to either.

I see we’re doing “beg the question” again. In the 80s it meant ”that prejudges the answer to a question still in play“. Now it means “that makes me want to ask the question…” When I was a kid, the second like throwing apostrophes at carrots. Now the first is shouting at clouds. Language evolves.

Watched someone double and then triple down on their argument that sex workers are bad people. It seems to be entirely a reaction to Pretty Woman and Sweet Charity being unrealistic, which, duh? The only thing worse than an idiotic argument is someone going full Dunning Kruger defending it.

Thinking about that absolutely terrible Ella Langley piece by Moss (who's usually really good!) in Rolling Stone, and it felt like the music version of someone saying, "what do you mean, you don't know about TRACKER, the top-rated network show?" We don't have the monoculture of 25 years ago, period.

Another (obvious) problem with the NYT TV list is that TV is a medium, and "TV Shows" is not an actual category within which things can be compared. Planet Earth, The Wire, and Key and Peele are 3 completely different kinds of shows, and the notion that any of them could "outrank" the other is dumb

I've said it before: Ranked "best of" lists are reductive at best, clickbait bullshit at worst. But I am amused at both True Detective and Beef being limited to "Season 1" since there was no way to justify them being on any list otherwise. (Surprised they didn't try that with Lost.)

Catching up on last night's #AEWDynamite, and holy shit is Britt's announcing terrible. Like Ricky Starks-level bad. She starts by making fun of Hyan's name while also mispronouncing "Perse'" stumbles over everything, etc. I love a good heel-announcer, but she's the anti-Callis.
