A large part of why I've stopped actively working in conversation analysis / #EMCA is because we have senior colleagues like Ruth Parry, Celia Kitzinger, and Sue Wilkinson who openly and proudly embrace being TERFs on social media, and colleagues who see this seem to treat it like business as usual.

Gerade in der Vorbereitung zu meinem Seminar über Ausschnitte aus einem Artikel von Hans Joachim Alpers, einem der DSA-Erfinder aus dem Jahr 1976 gestolpert. Dass Alpers immer lieber SF statt Fantasy mochte, auch bei DSA war mir bekannt, aber nicht warum:

Heroic Fantasy greift die latent vorhandene Bereitschaft des Lesers auf, die als unbefriedigend
empfundene eigene Situation zu ändern, verhindert jedoch die Einsicht, daß gesellschaftliche
Verhältnisse die eigene Situation bestimmen und daß diese Verhältnisse
durch solidarisches Handeln mit anderen veränderbar sind. Statt dessen werden Ersatzhandlungen
angeboten.
Propagierte Ideologien sind dabei: magisch-mythisches Weltverständnis (Mystifikation
intellektuell erfaßbarer Zusammenhänge); Recht des Stärkeren als Prinzip gesellschaftlichen
Zusammenlebens; Verherrlichung von Gewalt, insbesondere von Totschlag; Unterdrückung
der Frau; Betonung der rassischen Überlegenheit des nordischen Menschentypus;
Fatalismus gegenüber hierarchischen Strukturen und ihren Folgen, etwa Kriegen; Führerprinzip
nach dem Motto: Der größte Schläger und Schlächter soll unser Schicksal bestimmen;

Eine Frage war eingangs noch offen: Was glorifiziert die Heroic Fantasy?
Es gibt nur ein einziges Wort, das die vorstehenden ideologischen Einzelaussagen

I was drawing live today at a short panel about whales and what role they (and their language) play in the first contact concept in space. I guess space whales are a thing! So here's my go! I used a super granulating watercolour that seperates into two tones when drowned - loved the experience!
