Public Domain Art is the lifeblood of small tabletop rpgs, but it can be a nightmare trying to find the right art and license. This week, I’ve re-uploaded my old list from 2020 (with updates) of public domain websites. That's 500,000+ public domain paintings, photos, maps, and film. Link below 🔗👇

I’ve locked interactions on this post because the OP is fiction. But I want to retain the thread, & here’s why. I do not dare screenshot the equally-awful emails & other exchanges that I received as a junior faculty member, either directed to me or one of my students. So this stands in for that.

Letzter Versuch.

Razors pain you;
Rivers are damp;
Acids stain you;
And drugs cause cramp.
Guns aren’t lawful;
Nooses give;
Gas smells awful;
You might as well live.

has anyone written about the process of conversational repair in analog games? specifically thinking about stuff like: - "i move my meeple 5 spaces" "i think it's 6 spaces" - "oh, last turn i should've given you an extra 3 tokens. do you want them now?" - "it's too late now, but for next time..."

A large part of why I've stopped actively working in conversation analysis / #EMCA is because we have senior colleagues like Ruth Parry, Celia Kitzinger, and Sue Wilkinson who openly and proudly embrace being TERFs on social media, and colleagues who see this seem to treat it like business as usual.

Screenshot of Ruth Parry saying, "Thanks to Elizabeth Stokoe's nudge, I’ve got an amount on there. I’m a lefty GC feminist, person who knows women only spaces are important in some but not all contexts, as well as a conversation analyst. I can and will support people with similar views connect in this emerging platform."

der Frau; Betonung der rassischen Überlegenheit des nordischen Menschentypus;
Fatalismus gegenüber hierarchischen Strukturen und ihren Folgen, etwa Kriegen; Führerprinzip
nach dem Motto: Der größte Schläger und Schlächter soll unser Schicksal bestimmen;

I was drawing live today at a short panel about whales and what role they (and their language) play in the first contact concept in space. I guess space whales are a thing! So here's my go! I used a super granulating watercolour that seperates into two tones when drowned - loved the experience!

Painting of an astronaut floating above a surface of water. The astronaut is surrounded by different kinds of whales that are some how floating in zero gravity. The illustration is painted in watercolour, a blueish grey and a rusty orange.

IT’S HAPPENING! Aran and Tao are coming to a bookstore near you in 2026 🎉 @suziesamin.bsky.social and I are so happy the boys have found a home with Putnam Books and Ruta Rimas, thanks to our agent @jenazantian.bsky.social We can’t wait to share more with you! (This is a mock cover!)

Text of the website publishers weekly: “Ruta Rimas at Putnam has bought, in a six-figure auction, Fear of Falling, a co-created YA graphic novel with text by Suzanne Samin (l.) and art by Amalas Rosa. The book follows two former best friends from the Bronx: Aran, a Syrian American teen grappling with his mother's death, and Tao, a college basketball star with ADHD. When Tao moves back home after getting injured, both must confront the love they thought they'd left behind. Publication is slated for summer 2026; Jennifer Azantian at Azantian Literary Agency did the deal for North American rights.”

A mock cover with Aran and Tao sitting on a roof top, we only see their feet dangling over the wall. In big letters on the house wall we see the title FEAR OF FALLING and “a graphic novel by Suzanne Samin & Amalas Rosa” in small letters underneath

"We're doomed. - I know." Illustration of my OCs Ortwin & Mil! This picture means a lot to me and I hope you like it, too 🌿

Two young people in a kind of embrace. The shorter one, with short dark blue-green hair, a sad look on their face, puts their head on the shoulder of the taller man, their hand loosely grasping his t-shirt. The taller man is also short-haired, blond and has a serious look on his face. One of his hands rests on the head of his partner, the other on his arm. Both are wearing light blue-grey t-shirts. Behind them, and encircling them with their big tails, are two giant fish skeletons. The background is a dark blue-green, almost black, with some lighter water structures in the top part. The painting is done digitally with some brush strokes with visible texture.

I want more people to consider what art means to them without the pressure to impress. How does your hand like to mark a curve? Where does it apply pressure and where does it release? What sorts of shapes are you drawn to? Do you hold your breath when you draw a delicate straight line?
