Some of those don't work for me at all, like Berlin-Middenheim 😅 I think my translations of the places is just 40% based on location and 60% based on geographical and cultural details. Neither medieval nor modern Berlin have Middenheim vibes for me. Middenheim is admittedly hard to place

I think we already had the other half of this discussion 😅 In a campaign centered on Luftberg I based Salzenmund on Lübeck (with some additional hints at Kiel where we were living back then) Hamburg/Bremen/Amsterdam for me all are Marienburg Hamburg is too metropolitan for provincial Nordlanders.

In the Gorkamorka game the basic box only offers the choice between two different tribes (Gorkas and Morkas, obviously) which mechanically have the exact same rules with the only difference that they have slightly different skills development chances later in the campaign. Not even subtle!

I hate when a game is sold as horror but the system is just simulationist without any incentive for the players to play it as a horror game Horror needs to encourage risky decisions and acting based on character flaws, that's not fun when you have to work around a system of optimising dice pools

I'd strongly disagree. You can play it like that for sure, but you can as easily play the failing forward and complications situations as caused by equally competent opposition. I run a lot of FitD and love asking "So what did THEY do to stop you?" after a bad role in a high stat
