Note that the review was from the metadata I created / verified for these 83 vols with titles & my notes -- and has not yet been released to the public. Metadata supported creating verified catalog descriptions for my @archive.org collection archive.org/details/kath...
slide from Harris' UVA presentation on textual editing that demonstrates the use of spreadsheet to work through metadata issues. This material was eventually added to individual volumes in Internet Archive -- adding table of contents, artists, engravers, page numbers, titles of engravings, authors to each of the 83 vols accurately for the first time ever.

At Univ of Virginia @elaboratories.bsky.social this weekend to talk about #19c annuals from a textual editing + #DH (always) perspective. Underneath all of the different presentations this year has always been my 💌for #textualstudies / #bibliography / editing 📚🧠🤩rooted in #bookhistory #uva #cde
Opening slide for "The Literary Annuals as Editorial Problem: Editing Empire on the Parlour Table" plus Katherine D. Harris' contact information. Background image is a view of Harris' collection of British and American literary annuals, emblems and almanacs.A slide from the presentation that focuses on the editing tasks with text "Material form is editorial evidence" and 4 images of book cover, slipcase, inscription page, and gilt spine from the Internet Archive.Slide from the presentation with 2 images and the text "What does a page know?" and the images providing both the page and a close up a footnote to demonstrate an editorial intervention (or intrusion!) into the reading experience.

It's been intense traveling between @rs4vp.org #rsvp2026 in Dublin to #dh2026 in Deajeon, South Korea where I moved b/w metadata & periodicals to arguing about the designation of "small data" as not worth pursuing. REF: Tully Barnett who urged #dh to focus on more "small data" project #dhsi

I'm asking bc the crest/lion/unicorn show up on the boards of Forget Me Not 1825. Those represent British crown, England & Scotland, but look at all of the swords poking out 😵🤯and what seems to be battle ships(?) but nothing living. Seems to be drawn by Pugin? 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ #periodicals @rs4vp.org

#periodical #history buffs, help me out here. I'm at the NYPL doing research on Ackermann, 19c print culture & literary annuals (final push!) & am stymied by the iconography in this volume title page for Microcosm of London (1808-1810). Can you name any of the animals, crests, buildings, vignettes?
