There is SO much to talk about with SWEET HOME. Kiyoshi Kurosawa's early style development, how we may never see the theatrical cut, the incredible work from legend Dick Smith and the entire effects crew, and the melting. Oh, melt fans, the melting in this movie. Divine.

A fair criticism! I felt OAK STREET was pretty demanding of its actors, in that they have to maintain a level of terror and heightened emotion. I don't think every performance rises to meet that demand. But perhaps adding some breaths into the pacing would have helped.

This is why watching POLTERGEIST gets harder for me the older I get. I see a family in crisis, and their pain is very palpable. I cry with them, and the relief I feel when Carol Anne is rescued is when the dam really bursts.

One of the things THE END OF OAK STREET nails about its POLTERGEIST homage is just how scared and sad everyone is about what’s happening. The characters cry, scream, and break down. If my kid disappeared into the ghost dimension, I’d do those things too. The melodrama makes it very real to me.

Look at how many good and/or well liked actors wind up doing Harry Potter or Daily Wire shit. That should tell you something about the mercenary nature of (most) actors, and how actively they seek employment. Even famous actors are so scared to never work again that they’ll do damn near anything.
