Analysis & commentary on UK law affecting trans people and their rights. Our work is unfortunately suspended at the moment. Deeply opposed to UKSC/FWS ruling of 16/4/25 & to its blatant exploitation to hurt trans people by the EHRC, the media & others.

Right, the EHRC 'consultation' (in English) just closed. Well done to everyone who sent something. It's all going to be down to Starmer soon, as this piece discusses. It would be good to be in the hands of someone who reacted even remotely like a Labour Prime Minister?

Finally built up the strength to tackle the EHRC consultation this weekend? You’ll find material on how wrong it is in law here. Why not add some of this to your own personal take? The mass lobby of Parliament showed what this community & allies are capable of. Let’s kill these EHRC proposals.

The BBC uncritically platforms Sex Matters, misrepresents the Supreme Court ruling, and excludes trans voices entirely. This isn’t journalism, it’s bias. We've filed a complaint. The BBC must do better. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Letter to BBC Complaints about a June 18, 2025 article, "Women's group threatens legal action over single-sex spaces." The complaint alleges breaches of BBC's impartiality, accuracy, and fairness guidelines, citing a pattern of uncritically platforming groups hostile to transgender rights.

The letter details three points:

1. **Lack of Balance:** The article extensively quotes anti-trans voices (Sex Matters, Maya Forstater, Tess White MSP, Russell Findlay MSP) without meaningful counter-balance from trans advocacy groups, legal experts, or affected trans people. Criticism from trans campaigners is mentioned but not contextualized with quotes or sources.

2. **Misrepresentation of Supreme Court Ruling:** The article fails to explain that the *For Women Scotland Ltd v Scottish Ministers* ruling clarified the definition of "sex" in a narrow context and did not invalidate trans people's rights to be treated according to their gender, including access to spaces. The letter claims the article misleadingly suggests a blanket legal requirement for sex-based segregation, omitting that the Equality Act permits trans inclusion where proportionate.

3. **Normalisation of inflammatory language and framing.**

The letter concludes that the article's omissions mislead readers and violate BBC's accuracy and clarity guidelines.Screenshot of text criticizing BBC's coverage of trans issues. The text argues that the BBC uncritically presents dehumanizing language from Maya Forstater, who refers to trans women as "men" in women's spaces, reinforcing harmful stereotypes. It claims the BBC fails to distinguish between trans women and cis men, amplifying an inaccurate narrative that risks breaching its Diversity and Inclusion Strategy and Public Sector Equality Duty. The text criticizes the article's sourcing bias, citing only Sex Matters, an organization with a clear political agenda, and omitting trans voices and legal experts. The author requests the BBC amend the article with accurate legal context, quotes from trans advocacy organizations, and clarification of misleading claims; issue a correction acknowledging the article's lack of balance; and review editorial practices to ensure impartiality and accuracy. The author asserts the article fuels moral panic, misrepresents the law, and silences a vulnerable group.
