I was always very intentional in describing myself as 'asocial' as opposed to 'antisocial'. I didn't much care. Sure I wanted social acceptance and all that but I didn't take it as personally as it seemed like a lot of kids did? It really doesn't hurt my feelings when someone doesn't like me.

I've been stuck on thinking about my profound lack of friends when I was a kid and for most of my adult life as well. I think I got the sense to start hiding that about myself which is why I stopped talking or thinking about it but now that I don't have a choice, it's back in my conscious.

The biggest giveaway is usually that the eyes remain static and the smile only effects the lower half of the face. While non-Duchenne smiles are NOT enough to diagnose anyone, it's also the smile you hear come up a lot in relation to predatory types of people.

To those who don't know: Duchenne smiles are controlled by the emotional center of the brain. It is a GENUINE smile. Non-Duchenne smiles are controlled by the voluntary motor part of the brain as it is a deliberate action.
