Two extraordinary charts from today’s PISA test results: 1) School test scores continue to collapse internationally, underscoring how this is no longer a Covid effect but sustained decline. Those falls in reading and maths are equivalent to about two years of lost schooling.

I confess i haven't read this latest book so will reserve judgement. I thought the Book at War was pretty good. I suspect running USTC means you are just awash in data! When I spoke to him several years ago he wanted to push people to keep history in the national conversation/bookshops.

I think he would have chuckled at one of the museum cases which displayed fragments from his ‘alleged’ coffin. Apparently the whereabouts of his body is also subject to debate after various exhumations so he continues to have the last laugh with relic hunters

Finally went on a little pilgrimage to Basel to see all the Erasmus sites, including his tomb and the beautifully carved cabinet commissioned after his death to preserve his collection of coins and plate. I found his little knife kind of charming for some reason! #EarlyModern #skystorians

I think the bottom line of 1 reads: ‘Woss: 1597’ which presumably refers to the ‘Wosseter’ of 6. PS this looks like an amazing source for sermons!
