A guy says to his mechanic "Hey Fran, my 1950's Studebaker is making a weird noise." The car sounds out "booum da hu da hmmh da hoon da ina." Fran opens the hood and says "well, there's your problem." A pleasant man with piercing, a beard and dreadlocks sits near the engine. Frank remarks "Jonathan Davis from Korn is under the hood."

I hate that AI has removed curiosity and rabbit holes for people. No don't ask that damn bot, instead spend four hours reading everything you can on a weird topic and getting lost in tangents like nature intends!

FATALITY
A tweet from Joyce Carol Oates: overall takeaway from the Curtis Yarvin profile is that there must be millions of smart-aleck show-offy kids who annoy their teachers and go on to annoy other adults through their lives with their “contrarian” pose that hardens to a carapace over their faces; until, as adults, they still harbor a delusion that, if there is a king, or a fuhrer, he’d be impressed with the guys motor mouth and appoint him to his cabinet rather than deleting him with a negligent swipe of his wrist as Stalin did routinely.

As a child of a survivor of these hellish places called residential school, I can tell you with everything in me that the children who survived told the truth. Everything they said and what they didn't say, happened. We lived with the shell of the humans who came back. We know what they experienced.

As an educator, this is the entire crux of the matter. I do not care what you make for me. I care who you are becoming as you wrestle with the making. "if you are defining a process by what it produces, and i am defining a process by how it changes me, we are not talking about the same thing."

This is so genuinely cruel and heartless. Ford is, among other things, just a bad person.
Aware that the premier gives out his cellphone number freely, DiBernardo decided to get in touch. On Sept. 7, he sent Ford the following text:

Hello, I just saw the news in the Toronto Star that proposals from the city to retain the bike lanes and reduce traffic congestion were rejected without due consideration. A close friend of mine died in a cycling accident north of Bloor on university [sic] in an area where bike lanes were removed due to construction. This political move is going to cost Canadian lives at a time when we need to be more united than ever before. Please reconsider. He didn’t expect to hear back. He only wanted to register opposition to a plan that will needlessly endanger lives (not to mention one that will have almost no impact on traffic, as an engineering report commissioned by Ford’s own government indicates). “I spoke from the heart,” DiBernardo told me. “And I almost immediately got a response.”

The response he got (verified by the Star): “I am sorry for your loss! Star is always truthful lmao! I have been talking to the Mayor last week about University!”

Canada is preparing to spend tens of billions building a pipeline the oil companies themselves won’t finance. If this project made economic sense, industry would be leading it. Instead, the public is being asked to take the risk while foreign-owned oil companies collect the returns.

One of the things I know about writing is this: spend it all, shoot it, play it, lose it, all, right away, every time. Do not hoard what seems good for a later place in the book or for another book; give it, give it all, give it now. The impulse to save something good for a better place later is the signal to spend it now. Something more will arise for later, something better. These things fill from behind, from beneath, like well water. Similarly, the impulse to keep to yourself what you have learned is not only shameful, it is destructive. Anything you do not give freely and abundantly becomes lost to you. You open your safe and find ashes.

A gray motel door, interior shot. Its basically plumb at the handle, but suspiciously out of plumb at the floor. The same gray door, close-up of the floor. Even when closed the door is maybe 3 cm out of alignment at the bottom.
