The bundle is three “games” (collection 1, collection 2, KH3) so three carts would probably be necessary. If it came to it, they could sell each separately on an actual cartridge and that would be fine. I’m more mad at another uncompressed game from Square than I am at the key card, though.

I still see a lot of confusion about what decompilation, recompilation and ports are and what level of effort is involved in each type of project. It's important that people understand the difference, as recompilation took a drastically different meaning that when it was originally introduced.

I started NES FF1 a while back and enjoyed what I played. The resource management is definitely interesting in that one. I know that version has some bugged spells and stats, so I‘ve considered playing a different one instead, so I’ll look into the PS1 version.

Both games also have very bad encounter rates, so you're interrupted constantly. Still, I've started to appreciate random encounter rates more, and I've been able to enjoy/tolerate them in other games. Those two just happen to have very bad implementation, and are the only ones I've beaten.

It's an easy system to mess up. Mother has bloated and confusing level design and bad difficulty scaling, so you're likely to just run out of resources and die, which sucks. Xenogears is a 3D game with some obtuse puzzles, so encounters are likely to disorient and interrupt you, which also sucks.

The more interesting aspect of random encounters is resource management. If battles are unavoidable in a dungeon and enemies don't run out, you have to be careful with how you use spells and items, and how much time you spend exploring. That's cool and something only possible with random encounters.

I don't love random encounters but, to be fair, I've only beaten a few games that have them (Mother 1, Xenogears) and they're handled very poorly in both. I do fight most enemies I come across in RPGs, random encounters or not, so a lack of EXP isn't something I personally deal with.

Does anyone know how to extract 3d models from #Xenosaga Episode 3 and make them compatible for something like Blender? After 2-3 full days of experimenting, I have no clue anymore. There are people out there that know how it works, but it feels like forbidden knowledge at this point... I'm sad

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link - Completed on: September 13th Honestly feel similarly about this as I do Zelda 1. It’s strange that they went in this direction and there are some annoying parts, but it holds up fairly well. Great Palace was annoying, Thunderbird worst boss.
