Hey, friends. I could use some help. I lost my job June 2. I had enough saved to give myself some runway, and through freelancing, commissions, SEO work + job hunting, I've kept myself afloat for almost 3 months. But I'm reaching the end of that runway. 🧵

So The Flight of Dragons won out. I have so much to say about it though. I think the first FoD video will be an overview of how it broke my brain in the bnicest way when I was a kid, and a later video will cover a deeper dive into its themes.

thank you and sorry for posting this from the wrong account. I guess I'm glad I'm still the only Toroth hah.

Toroth Talks @torothtalks.bsky.social · 18/07/2026

Even if you click the "Unlock Aspect Ratio" icon on the sidebar, Vegas is still forcing the original image data to stay proportional because of the file's Source properties. You gotta turn of aspect ration in source properties too.

100

Toroth Talks @torothtalks.bsky.social · 18/07/2026

pro tip for anyone else running into fristrations trying to do certain size changes in Vegas editor with pngs. Vegas has a second, hidden setting that overrides the lock toolbar button when it comes to source files like PNGs.

100

Toroth Talks @torothtalks.bsky.social · 18/07/2026

hey, still this is an important first step and I'm super proud of you!

120

Toroth Talks @torothtalks.bsky.social · 17/07/2026

I also vibrate like this with a color aura when excited about something IRL too. Just ask @powerfulcrumpets.bsky.social or @animatronikki.bsky.social

000

Toroth Talks @torothtalks.bsky.social · 17/07/2026

I also have to balance the audio a bit because I've also found that my dektop that I have to do all the video editing on is feeding me weaker sound than what folks hear on like, any other devide, so the bg nusic is coming in strong than I want. But. Anger! Fire! Potshots at Minions!

100

Toroth Talks @torothtalks.bsky.social · 17/07/2026

I import that clip. Set the screening to knock out the black, and but that layer between the avatar and the layer with and aura effect. THAT worked. Took me 3 minutes. 2 of which was finding just the right fire clip. ashdahdhfkljfg

120

Toroth Talks @torothtalks.bsky.social · 17/07/2026

So I tried using the media generator to do something like animated flames zipping up between the layer and the background but couldn't get that to work right either. So then, last ditch effort... find a roytaly free fire movie clip with a completely black background.

110

Toroth Talks @torothtalks.bsky.social · 17/07/2026

So I just spent 2 and a half friggin' hours trying every layer/mask combo I could in Vegas 15 (I can't afford to upgrade) to have animated fire appear transparently over a solid color aura I was giving the angry expression avatar for Toroth. Nothing was working.

I also want to apologize to @pandangit.com bc while I talk a lot more slowly and clearly, getting all the avatar wiggles and stuff to look right in time with peaks and valleys is a challenge. I can't imagine how much more challenging it was with audio where I kinda talked too fast.
