Have you heard about the game Highlighters by Twinolli? This gameboy color styled gem has a free playable demo which is still fun to play! 🕹️ It also includes great OST composed by @toribobs.bsky.social! 🎶 🚀 twinolli-vg.itch.io/highlighters #retro #pixelart #indiegame

I looked at this for ages and absolutely loved the art style, then noticed after it was your work which made it even better! You’re an inspiration 🧡

the Cave Story mockup that almost came out officially. I worked with the Cave Story publisher Nicalis for a few months developing a pixel art but higher resolution version of the game. Pixel approved! Here's also some upscaled sprites, showing options #pixelart

I should probably double clarify Jeff! It’s weird and real CRUDE at times but genuinely makes it one of the funniest anime. It reeeally doesn’t take itself seriously but doesn’t pull its punches. Just warning you because that first couple minutes is… a lot lol

@grubb.wtf I’ve got an S tier classic anime recommendation for you, it’s called Golden Boy! It’s absolutely hilarious and the art style is awesome but it’s really not suitable for kids! The only downside to it is that you’ll wish it was longer. Sub and dub are both awesome and it’s on YouTube.

I wrote a really fun Super Mario Bros. 3 remix for this incredible, inspiring project! A big thank you to everyone involved, and a special thank you to @pokerusproject.bsky.social for taking the time during your hectic schedule to add some really cool guitar parts for the track! Happy 40th Mario 🍄

Just to make it clear, and for what it’s worth, Heather has always gendered Sasha and others correctly and adjusted to changes in pronouns, despite any issues or tensions. Just to clear that issue up with you Wren

I love the look of Isle of Reveries! If you like Zelda games you’ll probably like this a lot too, and it deserves to get funded! Plus it’s made by the lovely @desertcucco.bsky.social!

Ah right! I’ll keep that in mind, thanks so much Mumi! I tried the demo on Steam Deck and it ran shockingly well, so I’m hoping having it wherever I go will give me the push to really get invested in it this time 😊

Since I’ve finished the first nine Final Fantasy games (plus the FFVII remakes and XVI) I’m gonna give FFXV another try! Anybody got advice on how to make the most out of it? (Do I watch the prequel movie? Do I do the DLC episodes post-game or throughout?)

I haven’t watched anything he’s made yet, but seeing how his influence shaped so many of the games I adore makes me appreciate his work even from a distance. He was clearly an untethered creative visionary with a heart of gold.

Oh that’s awesome, good find!

Definitely a lot more like his arcade era design, but I think it’s awesome!

Switch 2 got announced! But more importantly… Donkey Kong??

Donkey Kong now looks even bigger, has more of his arcade era design with smaller eyes.

I love puzzle platformers! FEZ and Moonleap are already in the list, and they’re both amazing, but I’ll try and think of another that I love!

Tori Roberts @toribobs.bsky.social · 25/12/2024

You got this! I had to rely on lucky Wonder picks and saving up pack points to get Flareon and Victreebel (funnily enough the last pack I opened before exchanging points for Flareon had the Victreebel!) It’s not a very useful card, but it’s very cool and you’ll get it real soon I’m sure! 😊

I miss when games weren’t woke.

Fred Flinstone saying the iconic and very real quote “Flicking your bean even once will get you sent to hell!” on the Gameboy Color game The Flinstones.

I’ll definitely just wait for the inevitable Switch 2 version! They really need to try and unify their release dates too, it sucks getting games so much later these days 🥲

000

Tori Roberts @toribobs.bsky.social · 18/12/2024

Me too! I’d happily take a port! All I’d want to change is the camera honestly, since it’s a little clunky by today’s standards, and that’s if I’m being picky!

010

Tori Roberts @toribobs.bsky.social · 18/12/2024

Honestly, it feels like Switch games are the only time I can get a game and be playing it the moment I put it in the console. And indies are generally awesome, with small file sizes to boot. So tired of huge downloads and all this corporate fluff.

Home, Sweet Home from FFV (especially the Pixel Remaster version) always gets me, but gosh you’re so right. Nothing can stir my emotions like Uematsu’s music.

Tori Roberts @toribobs.bsky.social · 18/12/2024

Hey Capcom! Since you’re bringing back dormant franchises, can we have a HD-2D remaster of Breath of Fire IV please? It already has the most stunning pixel art and animation of any game ever made and doesn’t need much work!

The main characters of Breath of Fire IV(4) stood within a riverside village.

The main characters of Breath of Fire IV(4) exploring some ruins.

The main characters of Breath of Fire IV(4) resting by a campfire.

Two of the main characters of Breath of Fire IV(4) in battle against a slime.

I don’t blame you! But it is fantastic 🫣 It’s the deepest game I’ve ever played, but wow is it difficult… which only makes me wanna play it, learn its systems and mechanics, and beat it even more! It’s actually great for short sessions too, because for a while you won’t survive for very long 😂

I’m a little obsessed with Caves of Qud atm Yes it’s a 100 hour perma-death RPG deeper than the ocean Yes I die in the first half hour 99% of the time Yes I’m loving it

For a game that I was worried would be quickly forgotten, it was really nice to see it get recognised and shown the love it deserves! Hopefully Sony take note of that and make more games that (despite almost always being great) aren’t just third person, over the shoulder, action movie games!

010

Tori Roberts @toribobs.bsky.social · 13/12/2024

It’s so charming, just pure joy from start to finish, I’m sure you’d love it!

My mum is the coolest, she’s currently playing through Final Fantasy IV (I bought her the pixel remaster collection, but pretended it was for me so she didn’t try to talk me out of buying it hehe) and I’m really hoping she enjoys it as much as she did FFIX! She’s not ready for FFVI and FFVII 👀
