I've been immersed in research on Reconstruction in Lousiana and it's a very difficult truth to absorb that the white terrorist movement in the South was among the most successful terrorist movements in global history. Took 10 years but it won a total & complete victory through murder and atrocity.

Everybody's loving this clip, for good reason, but it should remind everyone that cities therefore have an obligation to build enough housing that all these marginalized and outcast people can come and afford to live in them on minimum wage *without* becoming homeless. YIMBY!

This was actually the pretty direct cause of the final collapse of the Western Empire. When the Vandals conquered the Roman provinces in North Africa (Tunisia, etc) that was the grain production. Triggered collapse of state/military power and that was it. No grain, no money, no army, no state.

By now the Roman imperial economy depended heavily on African agriculture, manufacturing, and trade, much of which was in the hands of Africans themselves. At the same time, local landowners attained great power and status in Rome: by the 180s CE nearly a third of Roman senators were of African origin.[33] These were men like Septimius Severus,

Trump announces that the U.S. will allow 300,000 metric tons of ground beef to be imported and that it would be sold at 25 percent below market prices. All of this comes as Trump warns about the dangers of socialism and communism.
Today, I concluded a deal to substantially lower the price of ground beef for working American families. As everyone knows, under President Biden, beef prices soared at their fastest rate and the American beef herd fell to its smallest size in modern history. As we work to rebuild this herd and help our ranchers, for the next 90 days, the United States will allow up to 300,000 metric tons of product for ground beef to be imported with no out of quota tariff. We have a commitment that this beef will be sold at 25 percent below current market prices. This deal will reduce prices for Americans while giving space for our Great American Beef Herd to grow again. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP
