www.thenational.scot/news/2654316... Disappointing from my 7th favourite band of all time. At least Kevin Rowland proved himself to be a hero telling Farage where to get off. I’ve only seen them live once,& the only act who made less effort to act like they wanted to be there was Bob Dylan.

@sofasound.bsky.social I’ve just discovered your work in my very late 40s. I could kick myself for not exploring sooner, but I’m just relieved I heard it eventually. Thank you.

Rishi Sunak, Matt Le Tissier, Rupert Lowe-your boys took one hell of a beating. Actually, they didn’t because they were kicked out of the final for cheating, weren’t they? Anyway, commiserations to Middlesbrough but well done #HCAFC. Good game, right result.

Watching @andyburnham.bsky.social unquestioningly adopt Keir Starmer’s positions on seemingly everything is like that bit at the end of the first season of The Office where Tim took on David Brent’s mannerisms. I can only hope that it ends up a similarly undeveloped storyline.

@ianrankin1.bsky.social Hi: I’m 1/4 of the way through Rebus22 and I’ve realised I’ve accidentally skipped the last book-I did think you’d left a lot off-screen as it were, but I’ve missed a least one major series development. Would you recommend I cut my losses and go back to 21, or plough on? Thnx

@naomialderman.bsky.social Can’t reply directly but SKS has acknowledged that he knew, and Mandelson’s continued association w/Epstein had been reported in the FT before the appointment. At the time, it was greeted as a pragmatic decision in the national interest by many of his current critics.

A couple of years ago, I attended the same Dexys concert as Julie Hesmondhalgh of Coronation Street&Broadchurch fame&, it transpired, parked in the same car park. On the lift up, she was pleasantly chatty about the gig and Kevin Rowland but I was too starstruck to say anything, so I just nodded.

I don’t want to be too shrill about this but I think the BBC, ITV and Sky have disgraced themselves in their coverage of the anti-refugee protests. A massive failure of judgement. But now we know the next time a progressive protest “isn’t news” that it’s nothing to do with numbers

@rexfactor.bsky.social Just caught up w/the Catherine Howard episode and it struck me that if she’d been a king or queen regnant, she’d’ve needed to demonstrate scandalous behaviour in multiple domains to score so highly. Still, it’s great miniseries with Catherine Parr an unexpected breakout star.
