Satellite imagery of the September 25 attack on Ulyanovsk’s Iskra Plant shows most of 11 confirmed impacts struck the facade, not the roof. Only two are visible in the images, though facade strikes may have caused serious internal damage to production areas and equipment.

As can be seen in the images, most of the impacts hit the building’s facade rather than the roof. Because of this, the satellite did not capture around 80% of the impacts: of the 11 confirmed impacts, the imagery shows damage from only two.

Damage to a building’s facade can generally cause significantly more serious internal damage than damage to the roof, especially if production facilities and equipment are located directly behind the walls.
