Spent a few quid online at CEX buying blurays. Ordered 8 discs and all bar two were posted individually, surely the postage costs wipe out any profit at all? I only spent 3 or 4 euro on most of the titles. Impressed with how quick they posted (presumably from shops across the country) them though.

Does anyone know their European birds? Merlin tells me this is a chiff chaff, but my Irish book of birds illustration looks much more like a Willow Warbler. Marginally longer than a wren but considerably less stocky. #bird #birds

Just been shopping for the things my wife asked for. Just 5 things on the list, of the 30 things I ended up buying I remembered 4 of the things she asked for. 80% success rate was apparently not good enough for my picky wife.

I feel really downbeat about this Manic Miner remake. Games should be developed with a passion, not using "AI". And it'll probably end up being another title where downloading a legitimate copy of the original online to play will be discouraged, and fair use will be restricted by IP.

This is IMO the full appeal of LLMs to middle management: you never bothered to learn how to put a table in a Word document. Now, you will never have to, because you are a superior human. Behold: a table in Word, so it was ordained.

generative ai exists so the capitalist class can replace human creativity with slop. then we all become good little worker bees ddnied self expression. there are excellent reasons to absolutely despise ‘ai’ and the shills pushing it. it is a key component of the contemporary fascist movement.

The Housemartins we've had build a nest in the same spot for a few years have abandoned their nest and I'm gutted. I love having them around. If they're spooked about that nest site for whatever reason this year it probably means they won't come back next year either. Very sad.

Most governments now class data centres as essential services Which means their construction is incentivised & subsidised. As is their electricity usage & water consumption. And the return on investment is a deficit, they employ very low numbers of people and contribute next to nothing in return.

Well there we are then, the World Cup is over for another four years. And what an eventful World Cup it's been! Scandalous corruption met with pure joy and in the end the real winner? Was football. No more matches left to play, apparently Spain and Argentina are going to have a kickabout tonight.

Was mid-try modding my old slim PS3 with a Pico for qcfw when I realised my soldering and eyesight isn't up to it. Still, got a ton of dust out and new thermal paste and it's running better than it has for years, so not a total waste of time. Left with 2 screws after reassembly though! 😬

Back home for a couple of days, just climbed the highest peak in Northampton. Tank Hill, where there's a military tank buried underneath it. No really, straight up, any one in Northampton will tell you. (Admittedly it must be a very small tank) #Northampton Abington Park is still lovely though.

So the "new World of Books Irish site" that we're supposed to be excited about is just the UK site with zero information about ordering from Ireland, no option to change prices to Euro and no information about postage costs. So, obviously they don't want/need Ireland based customers. Fuck em!

Screenshot of World of Books email saying Irish website has moved. It has moved to GB site.
