Tom @tomgoddard.bsky.social · 06/10/2026I’m always amazed at how places like this have even survived. So fortunate that they have. 000
Tom @tomgoddard.bsky.social · 04/10/2026This will probably sound too wierd coming from a stranger, and maybe not proper in traditional ways of saying one likes something, but your pictures and back story are heartening. In every sense of the word. Ty for sharing. 141
Tom @tomgoddard.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Amazing the skill and precision! (And beauty!) Thx for posting it , very enjoyable. 010
Tom @tomgoddard.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Salem’s Centuries is an excellent book. I’m big into the Salem Witch Trials history and this book has been great for understanding the city across a huge time range and with interesting insightful works on a variety of facets. 010

Tom @tomgoddard.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Wonderful it survived! The upward gaze, the gentle suggestion of a smile or of pleasure. It’s amazing and easy to get lost in its beauty looking at it. 000
Tom @tomgoddard.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Love it. I’ve lived all over but some of my best journeys have been not so far away or not so much on a main road. 111
Tom @tomgoddard.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Nice analogy of the “Death Star” movie model. I was younger (20’s) and an experienced art handler/trucker for a company that specialized in art -picking up and delivering high value items for museums, collectors, etc. No cell phones back then, open road for 2 weeks across US in big circle. And art. 110
Tom @tomgoddard.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Hard to believe how far we’ve taken this in 100 years. For good -and bad. 110
Tom @tomgoddard.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Love the boar A job once took me to see the original Death Star from Star Wars, in storage, and the curator showed me where the maker had for fun put a toy soldier upside down on the surface -said that no one ever noticed in film bc the eye didn’t expect it Optics seem to enjoy taunting the brain. 110
Tom @tomgoddard.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Huge big smile of delight! From my retinas to my toes the texture and lively ‘cmon and look I dare you’ bravado of all the surfaces is amazing. The tiles are very much perfectly balanced -like a nice tie would be with a suit that is shameless about inviting people to look at creative success. TY! 110

The often dusk/twilight periods in which Sohlberg's landscapes are set creates a certain mystical mood. Fiskerhuset (1906) 04712
Tom @tomgoddard.bsky.social · 22/09/2026What a beautiful print! So alive…drawing my eye comfortably from one delight to another, and another. 111
Tom @tomgoddard.bsky.social · 22/09/2026I’ll be looking for it. You have an amazing eye. Buildings like these must have been a real treat for the masons and fabricators to build. With just a tiny nudge to imagination I see an old mason wandering by decades later maybe with a grandchild showing what cool things he’s done in his life. 210
Tom @tomgoddard.bsky.social · 22/09/2026Amazing!!!! Wow. Thanks for posting it, it’s a delight to see. 110
Tom @tomgoddard.bsky.social · 22/09/2026Your photography is excellent, again. The way you show the cairn above the horizon and below it, trailing off downslope is especially beautiful in this one. 020
Tom @tomgoddard.bsky.social · 21/09/2026sigh.... life must have been so less demanding back then -as far as finding delight. What an idea... and sell. 000

Tom @tomgoddard.bsky.social · 14/09/2026You're super fortunate there! It must be amazing to be where history is everywhere, and throughout the isles. I can't think of a finer place- give me moody weather, fine country and dramatic ancient features and I would be so content, and being content is a major thing. 130

He had a strong preference for atmospheric, melancholic landscapes. Within Pictorialism, the goal was not to record reality in a purely documentary fashion, but to convey a painterly quality. 0409

His work can be divided into two extremes: ‘en plein air’ painting and nocturnes. In addition to his intimate smaller oil paintings on canvas, Dobrynin creates massive, imposing murals. 1256
Tom @tomgoddard.bsky.social · 13/09/2026I’m going to look into him…. There’s something special going on. I hesitate to try to describe it. He nailed it might be the easiest description. What the ‘it’ is, is the hard part to put my words to! So glad you posted it. 010
Tom @tomgoddard.bsky.social · 13/09/2026Beautiful. Drew me in and moved me around, even at times to my own past alive again. The end is so beautifully done with its sudden stop. The silence that comes after it became its own part of the song. 111

Tom @tomgoddard.bsky.social · 05/09/2026absolutely amazingly beautiful. Ive been on a break from here, and to have this be the first thing I see after awhile away... perfect. 210
Tom @tomgoddard.bsky.social · 05/04/2026Not only are your sketches beautiful, but the way you photograph them with the scene adds a kind of wonder to me in the moment of my seeing it all. Lovely work, wonderful posts. Thank you for sharing. I enjoy them. 110
