The only obvious, unsaid explanation is that 🍊’s “Palantir Boys” are using the Scots’ personal information provided in the ESTAs and running their names against posts on social media networks (especially Xitter and the Meta ones), rejecting ESTA authorizations of those with negative posts about 🍊/🇺🇸

What about Ohio Governor? The choice is a toss up between a D who is ⚪️ and F and a Doctor vs an R who is 🟤 and a centi-millionaire with a non-citizen father. That is going to break a lot of R and I voter brains, IMHO. We’ll see.

This realization is why it wasn’t hard to leave behind most of the relationships I had with ⚪️ folks in MI when I moved to NYC over 2 decades ago. I am not a singer nor a dancer and while I love playing sports, I wasn’t super good at them. Therefore, I had no value in the eyes of many ⚪️ folks.

In my experience, what it comes down to is that willingly or not, many ⚪️ folks’ opinion of ⚫️ folks is based on a simple question: Do I benefit from ⚫️ labor? Am I entertained by them? Do I like to watch them play for my team (another form of entertainment)? IOW, what can/do ⚫️ people do for me?

Related rant: There is a special place in hell for ⚪️ suburban Detroit boomers, who will almost always counter “⚪️ suburbanites hate ⚫️ Detroiters” with “I don’t hate ⚫️ people! My favorite music is Motown!” No Barbara, you love ⚫️ MUSIC. You hate ⚫️ PEOPLE. Most folks don’t understand this distinction

In the aughts, there was a lot of hate, political and otherwise directed at ⚫️ people from the other 58 counties in the state. In the quarter century since, things have not changed much.

Who was also MI’s first (and only) Black SOS! Very, very important job in MI because the SOS is responsible for driver licensing AND election administration BUT I can’t help to think that the John Crow politicians of the north are pigeon-holing the office of SOS into a “Black job”.

Beauty of the smaller districts (350k/member) + compactness combo is that it guarantees minority (including ⚫️) members b/c most residential areas in 🇺🇸 are segregated by race. Failure to increase minority members under this scheme would mean that 🇺🇸 would be becoming less segregated, which is good!

Hold a vote in ‘27 to expand House to ~1k members, while also mandating compactness of districts. This can be done by statute, so a Speaker Jeffries could ram this through the House in ‘27 & dare a Senate filibuster & 47 veto. Promise would be that expanded house becomes law with D president in ‘29.

Still optimistic about Democrats’ chances in November, because 1)For Rs in the House, all the gerrymandering in the world will not save you in D+15 environment, & 2) In the Senate, gerrymandering is impossible by definition & in a D+15 environment very few R senators will be safe anyway.

Point is that no matter how we see ourselves in relation to society (I’m not ⚫️!” “I don’t see color!”), members of society get a vote in how they treat others. As much as we may want others to exercise colorblindness in their views/thoughts/actions, we cannot make them. And that matters, a lot.
