In #Science #Immunology, @tobiasplowman.bsky.social, Kassiotis, & al report canonical #IL13RA1 expression is negatively regulated by E2 #estrogen & also describe a primate-specific RTE-derived IL-13Rα1 isoform that antagonizes the canonical receptor & attenuates responsiveness to #IL4 and #IL13!

Primate retroelement exonization and sexually dimorphic IL13RA1 transcription tune type 2 immune responses
Co-option of primate-specific retroelements creates an alternative IL-13Rα1 subunit that tunes type 2 immune responses.

Type 2 immunity is thought of as a potential promoter of tumorigenesis. Emerging evidence challenges this perspective. Could it be harness to reimagine cancer immunotherapies? 🧪 @nature.com @natureportfolio.bsky.social www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Amazing new paper providing the architecture of the high-affinity IgE receptor in a IgE-sensitized state and the apo state. Also revealing that mice and men are different... #Immunosky #Immunology www.science.org/doi/epdf/10....

Today we report that an engineered skin bacterium, swabbed gently on the head of a mouse, can unleash a potent antibody response against a pathogen. Could lead to topical vaccines that are applied in a cream. @djenetbousbaine.bsky.social led the charge... @natureportfolio.bsky.social 1/55

It’s the little things in life: Lymph node microniches drive TH2 formation in allergic asthma
