Yesterday, Baz the wonder pug went to Colonial Williamsburg. He walked all the way down DoG street and met many admirers. But he didn’t get to play with the sheep and cried about it. On the way home he had a nap, so maybe he got to meet the sheep in his dream.

1/ Last weekend, I received an email from someone whose friend was being treated for cancer. The doctor advised her friend to get the flu shot, but said to skip the Covid vaccine. So the friend asked me if risks from the Covid vaccine are still a concern.

Nothing like looming time in a cast to inspire me to get in the gym. I haven’t had to deal with crutches in 30 years, and my upper body immediately protested when I practiced earlier this week. Hopefully I won’t need to use crutches that much. I did get a purple knee scooter for downstairs.

This is the most remarkable story Ray Bradbury ever shared with me. He told it to me late one night, sitting in his den of antiquities and mementos. Take five minutes to read this. It’s pure magic. #Writing #Living #Creativity #RayBradbury #BookSky

In case anyone needs a smile, Baz the wonder pug went to bookclub with me tonight. He stole lots of hearts and gave lots of kisses. Now he’s ready to be home and nap.
A fawn pug is in a square dog car seat. The outside of the car seat is black but the inside is a cream that coordinates well with the pug’s fur. The pug is looking at the camera with a serious expression. He is wondering why he’s not napping at home.

The air has turned cooler this week. The hummingbirds have been extra busy at the feeder. I know that they’re getting ready to leave until April, and I’m happy for them. But I will miss their fierceness.

9/ If you have questions about the MMR vaccine, ask your provider. I commend every parent stepping forward to get a vaccine right now. This is the right choice, even if it feels scary. There is no shame in changing your mind, especially concerning protecting children from disease.

an open letter to @jamestalarico.bsky.social @teamtalaricohq.bsky.social
dear James,

it is unlikely that you remember me from fall 2021, when we were at austin Presbyterian theological seminary together. I moved out of Texas for a few years and just moved back, telling everyone how excited i was to vote for you

Now, I'm not so sure.

The reason i moved away from my beloved texas is because Ken Paxton wanted records from a gender clinic my child had been seen at. The reason i moved away from my home, my church, my friends, was to make sure the state would not take my children away because i affirm they are who they say they are. Once both children were adults, we made the decision, with our non-binary kid, to come back to the land we love and help fight for it.

Yesterday, I watched an interview where you said you're against trans people in sports "if" that makes sports unfair or unsafe. I've seen multiple people defend your statement, saying the "if" is load bearing. However, i woke up to your socials talking about how much republicans love you. So, how would voting for you be meaningfully different to the mom of a trans child than voting for Paxton?

I know the PCUSA just strengthened their support of trans people. If you still want my vote, i need you to realign with your faith, not with Republican talking points. I am deeply disappointed this morning but there is still time for you to have courageous conviction. I'll be praying for you. Sincerely, marie.

Last year, I made this quilt about what it's like to have asthma in the time of climate change. I just keep looking over at it today, being sad. The point of this quilt is to help anyone whose lungs work OK understand what it's like for those of us with shitty lungs. Thought it made sense to share.
Quilt with lungs on it. Half the background is beautiful flowers, so it's hard to see the flame-like quilting. The other background is black, so it's quite easy to see the flames.

Quick reminder: -fans (and wind gusts) don't lower the temperature of a room, they remove the layer of perspiration on your skin, therefore causing your body to sweat more and cool you down. Ie: careful about dehydration -it is indeed possible to die of heatstroke even out of direct sunlight (1/?)

In case you, too, needed this today:
Op is novelconcepts: Hey, man, c'mere. Listen. Get in real close, this is important.
You're gonna make stuff again. You're gonna make stuff you're proud of. You're gonna make stuff you're excited to share. You're going to feel that overwhelming drive to create, not just the frantic / want to want to you're stuck in now. You're going to have awesome ideas, and you're going to make them into reality. You're going to create again.
You're still an artist. You're still a writer. You're still home to the same passion you had before. You'll find it again. It's not gone. It's just resting. Let it rest. You're going to make stuff again. I promise.
