From @michellepitcher.bsky.social: Harris County is a judicial battleground for both parties in Texas. Houston's courts went blue in 2016, and the GOP has been trying to claw its way back ever since. Can Governor Abbott's deep pockets beat back the coming blue wave?

Houston: Mass march and rally to demand the end of ICE and justice for ICE victims Saturday, July 25th, from 10 am to 12 pm starting at 1121 Franklin St, Houston, TX 77002
Thirty advocacy organizations, community members, faith leaders, and elected officials from across Texas are joining forces for a mass march and rally to demand the end of ICE and seek justice for the death of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, who was killed by ICE in Houston earlier this month.

The ICE Out of Texas Marchamos Por Lorenzo event starts at 10 am at 1121 Franklin St, Houston, TX 77002. The action centers those impacted by ICE violence, including those in our local communities. As leaders and allies at the intersection of worker and immigrant justice, we know that true progress can only be achieved when workers can make it back home safely after every shift without the fear of detention, deportation, or death.

“When three immigrant men - all family patriarchs and hardworking contributing members of society- can be killed in broad daylight by a federal agency without clear reason or investigation, we fail to uphold our government accountable to its actions and convey the message to everyday people that their lives don’t matter,” said Workers Defense Action Fund Executive Director Lizeth Chacon. “We must do better. For Lorenzo. For all victims and all impacted families. We must end ICE and demand justice for these brutal killings.”

“Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was just trying to go to work and provide for his family when masked agents pulled him over and shot him. He could have been any of us,” said Antonia Escamilla, a Houston Janitor and member of SEIU Texas. “That’s why we are united throughout Houston and across the country for transparency, accountability and to get ICE out of our communities.”Who:

A good point & reminds me of something Farm to Taber said in a live that pointed out how these private farm corporations aren't actually handled as if they were the scale they are, leaving safety and quality control largely up in the air until problems emerge and profits are interrupted.

Receipts btw: sex-matters.org/wp-content/u... They're quite explicit about curtailing rights in order to "no longer make transition a desirable goal" and thus eliminate trans people from public life.
This means that the entire premise of treatment with puberty blockers for gender dysphoria has
fallen away. The drugs are intended to block gender-distressed children’s natural puberty so that if
they persist in cross-sex identification and progress to cross-sex hormones and perhaps surgery,
they will “pass” better as the opposite sex. But passing as the opposite sex ceases to be a
desirable goal to present to children when they will never be permitted to use spaces or services
for the opposite sex, and may in future be restricted in employment in roles such as police officer
or nurse which can involve intimate contact with others in situations where sex matters for those
others’ human rights. Instead it becomes a major, permanent social problem for those young
people, since their future lives and freedoms will be seriously curtailed by being legally barred from
using the other sex’s spaces while appearing anomalous in those for their own sex.
