NEW! Sworn declarations filed last night confirm the Trump admin sent INNOCENT people to rot in prison El Salvador, including a professional soccer player jailed and tortured by the Maduro regime, who entered this country LEGALLY to seek asylum, and who has NO CRIMINAL RECORD in either country.
I am the immigration attorney for Jerce Reyes Barrios, born in January 16, 1989 in Venezuela. 2. In February and March 2024, Mr. Reyes Barrios marched in two demonstrations in Venezuela protesting the authoritarian rule of Maduro. At the second demonstration, he was detained and taken to a clandestine building where he was tortured (electric shocks and suffocation) along with other demonstrators. 3. Shortly after his release, he fled Venezuela for the United States. He registered with CBP One in Mexico, then presented himself to CBP officials on the day of his appointment. He was taken into custody and detained at Otay Mesa Detention Facility in September 2024. 4. We applied for asylum, withholding of removal, and CAT protection in December 2024. His final individual hearing is set for April 17, 2025 before Judge Robinson at the Otay Mesa Immigration Court. 5. On March 15, 2025, Mr. Reyes Barrios was deported to El Salvador with no notice to counsel or family. It was not until March 18, 2025 that counsel was able to reach an ICE official and learn that he had in fact been deported. 6. Mr. Reyes Barrios was/is a professional soccer player in Venezuela. He has never been arrested or charged with a crime. He has a steady employment record as a soccer player, as well as a soccer coach for children and youth. 7. Initially, Mr. Reyes Barrios was placed in maximum security at Otay Mesa and accused of being a Tren de Aragua gang member. The accusation is based on two things. First, he has a tattoo on his arm of a crown sitting atop a soccer ball with a rosary and the word "Dies." OHS alleges that this tattoo is proof of gang membership. In reality, he chose this tattoo, because it is similar to the logo for his favorite soccer team Real Madrid. See logo below. [pictures of the tattoo and the pictures of the logo]. 8. Second, OHS reviewed his social media posts and found a photo of Mr. Reyes Barrios making a hand gesture that they allege is proof of gang membership. 9. After submitting a police clearance from Venezuela indicating no criminal record, multiple employment letters, a declaration from the tattoo artist who rendered the tattoo, and various online images showing similar soccer ball/crown tattoos and explaining the meaning of the hand gesture, Mr. Reyes Barrios was transferred out of maximum security. 10. Nevertheless on March 10th or 11th, he was transferred from Otay Mesa to Texas without notice. Then, on March 15, 2025, he was deported to El Salvador. Counsel and family have lost all contact with him have no information regarding his whereabouts or condition.

UPDATE: From the original poster of the letter on FB:
I just now got off the phone with Allan Schappert, the author of this letter. He’s not on social media. When I shared how his letter has travelled, he said, “I’m gobsmacked.” He wrote to share his story, and perhaps to let other veterans know they’re not alone, and he’s amazed that he touched a nerve. “The pen is mightier than the sword!” exclaimed this pilot who once wielded the nuclear sword at the controls of an American B52. Whew. He thanks you, Peter, for sharing his words. Allan and I have plans to grab a beer together this weekend.

COMPLAINT
Plaintiff, the law firm of Perkins Coie LLP, brings this case against the U.S. Department
of Justice, the Federal Communications Commission, the Office of Management & Budget, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Office of Personnel Management, the General Services Administration, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the United States of America, and, in their respective official capacities, Pamela J. Bondi, Brendan Carr, Russell T.
Vought, Andrea R. Lucas, Charles Ezell, Stephen Ehekian, and Tulsi Gabbard, and states as
follows:
1Case 1:25-cv-00716 Document 1 Filed 03/11/25 Page 2 of 43
WHAT THIS CASE IS ABOUT
1. This case concerns an Executive Order issued on March 6, 2025, entitled,
"Addressing Risks From Perkins Coie LLP" ("the Order"). The Order is an affront to the
Constitution and our adversarial system of justice. Its plain purpose is to bully those who advocate
points of view that the President perceives as adverse to the views of his Administration, whether
those views are presented on behalf of paying or pro bono clients. Perkins Coie brings this case
reluctantly. The firm is comprised of lawyers who advocate for clients; its attorneys and
employees are not activists or partisans. But Perkins Coie's ability to represent the interests of its
clients and its ability to operate as a legal-services business at all— are under direct and imminent
threat. Perkins Coie cannot allow its clients to be bullied. The firm is committed to a resolute
defense of the rule of law, without regard to party or ideology, and therefore brings this lawsuit to declare the Order unlawful and to enjoin its implementation.
The Order's peculiar title betrays its oddity as an Executive Order, for its purpose
is not executive in nature. Rather, the Order reflects a purpose that is judicial-to adjudicate
whether a handful of lawyers at Perkins Coie LLP ("Perkins Coie," "the law firm," or "the firm") engaged in misconduct in the course of litigation and then to punish them by: (I) terminating government contracts with firm clients, thereby driving away current and prospective clients; (2)
denying all members and employees of the firm access to federal buildings and meetings or other
engagement with federal employees; and (3) immediately suspending, and possibly revoking, security clearances for all firm employees.
3. The Order imposes these punishments on the entire law firm even though the
attorneys involved in the purported misconduct numbered a mere handful of the more than 1,200

I never heard of #orioles Zach Fruit before today. His numbers in Aberdeen last year were quite solid. His last 3 pitches today were a 97-mph sinker, followed by an 89-mph cutter, followed by an 82-mph change-up or slider (can’t remember type but 82 is right). That is some nice progression!

#Orioles pitcher Sugano has pitched 7 innings in Spring Training. He is averaging 2.28 balls per INNING. That is impressive. And even more impressive is the fact that half of the 16 balls he has thrown were in his first appearance (2 innings). Thus, he threw 8 balls over last 5 innings of work.
