My meditation class has been doing a conscious acknowledgement of seasons changing this yr, on days such as today, autumn equinox. Just being present, observing nature, feeling grateful, noticing what we want to carry forward and what we have learnt. Its been a simple, beautiful practice 🪷

Client called this afternoon and needed an urgent 2000 word report in 1.5 hrs on some work we had been doing. I had to pull from memory, many documents, some on paper. Instinctively I started the process by stress eating a nice sugary donut . Strangely, seemed to have worked as well as AI 😜

What you are seeing in math right now is a consequence of the jagged frontier, and a precursor of what is to come in other professions. Yes, mathematicians do math, but they also have other tasks they view as important (mentor students, maintain a community, safeguard the future) that AI can't do.

In my part of India there is a saying 'a little knowledge can be catastrophic' meaning you can do a lot of damage when you only understand bits and pieces of something. Thats how, I as a product person, feel now with Vibe Coding. I am now a 0.1x developer and I can wreck things 🤦‍♀️

What Ben McKenzie says here is something that really stood out to me in 'Everyone is lying to you for money' - that the cruelest, neatest trick in crypto is making the one who has invested and lost feel that its their fault, their shortcoming somehow

4-panel SMBC comic update. An advanced robot calls to a human saying "human! I have solved all your most difficult mathematics with proofs more beautiful than you could ever imagine!" When the human asks "what," he presents a large stack of papers exclaiming "behold!" The human examines the papers in the stack, saying "none of these are constructive or inductive or… this is like… 80 million pages of case analysis." The robot gushes "so beautiful. Pure concept-free truth." The human states "no human mind could read and follow all of this," leading the robot to insist "so, SO beautiful."
