My kids aren’t hungry kids, and I’m still in favor of school lunches for them and for every child, irrespective of any impact on test scores. It’s crazy to me that we wouldn’t provide meals to children at school when they are legally required to be there.

I told my husband yesterday that we needed to deposit ours before it bounces. Too bad for Trump that all three voters in our MI household already voted straight-ticket Dem.

American moms can bake at least 4 dozen in under 90 minutes, with all the bowls and utensils cleaned and put away afterwards.

Klobuchar has Schmitt dead to rights: "The game in fact was in Maryland. For a senator to have false information & imply, based on confusion about name of a team, that you were in another city & somehow involved that day in what was happening in Georgia & call you a 'dirtbag' deserves an apology"

Yeah, I think I liked them mostly so I could sample the different flavors. I’d do a blind taste test and guess which flavor it was, as I let the sugar coating melt in my mouth, leaving a round, jelly blob😆

I loved those growing up and had no idea they were a kosher fave. My Mormon mom often kept our candy dish stocked w/ them. I really hope an entrepreneur gets the rights to the discontinued formerly kosher candies and crates a niche business selling them. I gotta think that could be a solid business.

In hindsight, it was a mistake, but I kinda get it. He was the first. And he was reasonably worried about being discredited as an “angry Black man.” Now we have mountains of evidence to know they will label you with all sorts of untrue, derisive labels, no matter how proper you are, so let ‘er rip.

This is actually wonderful to see to anyone who cares deeply about Black maternal mortality, which is what their joint appearance was mostly about. But sure, snarky one-liners are really what the Internet needs more of.🙄

Tbh, anything in the sevens was considered standard/fair 25 years ago. When my parents took out a second to finance an addition to our suburban ranch in 1986, I know the rate was at least 10.5%.

The people complaining are too young to remember the housing market in the early 2000s. This would’ve been a common mortgage in a major metropolitan area when I was a first-time buyer.

The thing is, it was written by GenXers who were already well into their mid-to-late 20s, looking back on how high school had felt to them. It really wasn’t meant to be a template for 1990s teens. (As someone who was the same age as the writers and watched it as a full-grown adult, I still love it.)

This is the part many Americans -- including the Bezosites at the Washington Post -- don't understand. Canadians don't see this just as a Trump thing. It's that America elected him twice, and the second time with an even bigger mandate. The problem we're addressing is America, not Trump.

This is the point.☝️ I don’t care what you’d call it: Israel, Palestine, Israel-Palestine, whatever. But it should give equal rights to all ethnicities, creeds, and religions. And even if you kept the name “Israel,” Zionists would claim it had ceased to exist.

Lots of folks are comparing McConnell’s vote today to Feinstein’s finals days in the senate. The main difference is that Feinstein was co-sponsoring legislation to expand voting rights, while McConnell voted to cut SNAP and end environmental protections.

Sadly, they won’t. They’ll say that the state government and the Church aren’t one and the same (debatable) and say they shouldn’t have to choose between their spirituality and their politics (also debatable). If they’re really serious, they need to do something radical. I am not holding my breath.

I personally know these women & applaud them, but their moderate approach is part of the problem. Nothing will change unless they swing for the fences. If active LDS women stopped attending church altogether - full, sustained boycott - UT would grind to a halt. Thats how to make real progress in UT.

Same, courtesy of an ONR fellowship. I lasted 2.5 years and had the credits to finish with two master’s degrees before taking a job in tech. Right now, when new grads are struggling to find jobs irrespective of their degree, I’d still recommend grad school if you can do it w/o debt.

Sadly, I think the vast majority of voters feel like reining in corruption is virtually impossible (at least at the moment), but they see an opening in shutting down the data center plans for their town. (Of course, the data center development hinges on corruption, too, but that’s not their focus.)

Tina Melquist @tinamelquist.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
Ngl, even among Dems, I see more outrage about AI and data centers than I do about rampant corruption. I agree with your entire list. I’m just saying that Obama’s always been really good at sensing the temperature in the room. And right now voters care more about data centers in their backyard.

And I totally agree with your take, btw. The jingoism to follow was absolutely insufferable and directly reasonable for us unnecessarily starting a war in Iraq. However, the day of and few days after were a uniquely uplifting time.

Still, the maritime evacuation of 500,000 from Lower Manhattan by anyone in the area with a boat not only was impressive logistically but also showed the best of humanity. People coulda said, “Hell no. Imma sail as far away as I can,” but tons of sailors answered the USCG call for help. It was cool.

The abortion one was a good slogan that resonated with most Americans. I find the trans one harder to phrase cuz we’re already to the point of passing exclusionary laws, which we want to disavow, whereas under Roe we had broad legal acceptance and were primarily addressing cultural acceptance.

And I think to this day she is quite pleased with her home birth experiences. I’m glad there were no complications. But ngl, there was a time where I was worried, thinking, “She’s too smart to go for the really kooky naturopathic shit, right?” Fortunately she is/was.

There can be a seminal grievance AND they’re morons. My friend had a poor labor & delivery experience with Child 1. It led her to do home births for #2 and #3 and take her kids to Dr. Sears when they were young. But she’s quite smart and returned to normie science during a cancer scare and COVID.
