BREAKING: The Supreme Court in a 6-3 vote UPHOLDS birthright citizenship, affirming the default rule that all persons born in the United States (with narrow exceptions) are U.S. citizens at birth. A total LOSS for President Trump and the effort to rewrite the 14th Amendment.
Held: Children born in the United States to parents unlawfully or temporarily present are “subject to the jurisdiction” of the United States
and are citizens at birth under the Fourteenth Amendment’s Citizenship Clause.

Working at AMCs for my entire career, I never imagined I would have the opportunity to mentor PhD students. Yesterday it was my honor to hood my first PhD student, Gina Belli, and I couldn't be prouder! Congratulations Dr. Belli!!!

Some paths we see for advancing clinical science's impact: -Share science w/ other audiences who need it -Collaborate across fields, institutions, hierarchies -Call out role of systems & oppression on well-being -Share leadership (vs. offering it to the same powerful people) -Quality over quantity

So here's what I don't understand when reviewing the hundreds of applications to our PhD programs: research mentors/PIs being asked to rate their trainees (aka RAs) on research and responding "not applicable"?

Just accepted at Nature Mental Health: Crises and Opportunities for Psychological Science under Fascism doi.org/10.31234/osf.io/nz42x_v3 1/9
This manuscript has been provisionally accepted for publication at Nature Mental Health.
 Please cite as: Hallion, L. S., Lorenzo-Luaces, L., Crowell, S., Gruber, J., Boisseau, C. L..,
Perillo, A. D., Perillo, J. T., Delawalla, C. (in press). Crises and opportunities for psychological
science under fascism. Nature Mental Health.
 Abstract
Psychopathology research and treatment is at a crucial juncture. Particularly within the
United States, funding for scientific research has been cut drastically; academic freedom is under
attack; and efforts to diversify our workforce and mitigate our field's contributions to systemic
oppression have been banned outright. Ideologies vie for dominance, with reactionary centrism
and institutional capitulation increasingly evident. Gaslighting plays a central role in our politics
(academic, national, and beyond), but it is virtually unacknowledged within our science. At the
same time, diamonds are formed under pressure. Our collective reckoning brings with it the
potential for non-incremental improvements in our ability to assess, diagnose, and treat patients.
These improvements arrive in the form of opportunities for paradigm shifts, particularly those
involving acknowledging the gaslighting our field perpetuates; resourcefulness in conducting
research; values-realignment; coalition-building within and across fields and institutions; and
 dissemination and outreach.

If you're unhappy with how your university administration is handling threats to academic freedom and science from the federal administration, the next time your university asks for you to donate money to them, and they will soon (trust me), tell them you'll be donating that money to Harvard instead

My student's diversity F31 has been pulled from study section even though it's the SAME APPLICATION as regular F31s, normally reviewed together in the same panel. Throwing out all the applications from URMs while the ones from white/privileged students get to be reviewed is blatant discrimination.
