Doesn't look like I'll be going back to supporting the Lib Dems any time soon.

AI will find its place. I'm finding it very useful in my work. But I think we're already discovering that it's not going to be able to replace everything. :)

Much as we all want this stock to hit the floor, and Elon with it, unfortunately this zoomed graph doesn't tell the story. We've been here before. Somehow the rich guys always seem to win.

Tomorrow, price-capped gas prices go up 24%, because of the fossil fuel supply crisis caused by the Iran war. But electricity is only rising by 5%. Why? Because a lot of UK electricity is now generated by renewables rather than gas. Those turbines and solar panels are paying for themselves, folks.

I see we're still at the stage of putting "too hot" in quotes like it's somehow debatable when it's the high 30s with no air con the days in a row.

Just discovered that the Affinity design software was bought by Canva in 2024 and is now free. Time to reconsider my Adobe subscription, I think. However, if the creators of Affinity thought selling out to Canva would give them exposure to Canva's customers, they may have been disappointed:

I thought share traders were supposed to be intelligent, but they don't seem to be aware that Trump is a pathological liar who barely even knows what day it is or what medication he needs to take.

The BBC seems puzzled about what could have caused this. In the real world, it's completely obvious. It's Trump. Just say it. Who wants to go to America right now? www.bbc.co.uk/sport/footba...

Well boo hoo. Air fares are in general far too low, so I see nothing to worry about here. Already bought our tickets for this summer anyway, so paying for the fuel is the airline's problem not ours. Probably won't fly next year at all.

Disappointing result for the BBC, who pre-scaled their chart to allow for more than twice as many Reform wins as they actually got.

It was, of course, completely obvious to everyone except those who started this stupid war that this would happen.

Remember that Wales has PR so the "most seats" is completely irrelevant. It is not close. All that matters is who has a viable path to a majority, and Reform does not. Plaid will lead the next Welsh government if the polls are anywhere near accurate. Only question is: with whom?

Key moment. The Greens have just today gone into second place, NOT on a single poll but on the aggregate of ALL polls according to @electionmaps.uk

Hope is my favourite word. It feels like we used to have more hope than we do these days. But we don't need to accept this. Or try to protect what we have from enemies real & imagined, or from change. We can choose to believe that things can always be better, cleaner, healthier and fairer.

Apparently "unacceptable" needs to be in quotes because that's just someone's opinion. No. Abuse is always unacceptable. It does not need quote marks.

Most icons don't visually indicate the program; they indicate the branding. Firefox is just a fox, nothing to do with web browsing. Bluesky is just a butterfly. And so on. That's normal. The new Word icon has a W on it, anyway, which has been removed (for some reason) in this shared graphic.

That appears to be £19.7m per job. Given that labour costs usually form a high proportion of most project budgets, it seems reasonable to ask in whose pockets most of that money is going to end up.

Google has sent me a touchingly personal feedback request for a case which I raised last Wednesday and which was completely ignored until the weekend, by which time it may be too late.

We have an "ethical balanced" pension fund. I think some of it must have been invested in Tesla. Not for long, methinks. Fund managers may be greedy, but they're not stupid.

Petrol cars less than half the total sold last month, for what I believe is the first time; BEV up to 25%; and car sales down overall. More trends like this please! Fewer cars in total, and more of the remainder electric.

Blue areas are "Alternativ für Deutschland". Looks like if Germany had not reuinted, we would have a fascist state between it and Poland. Fortunately, thanks to the former West Germany retaining some sanity, the fascists can remain solidly out of national government regardless of any gains.

Maybe people in the EU don't buy American products like you mention because they are simply not good enough. You cars are horrifically large and ineffient, and your farm products are contaminated with chemicals. You buy EU things because decent EU regulation means they are of a high standard.

Elon Musk did NOT just "appear to make" those salutes; he made them clearly and with and purpose, and we should confidently report that this is what he did.
